My car was in for a service at the weekend, and ended up having some work done reaching a total of around £500. After I left I was looking at the invoice and I noticed I've been charged ~£10 for an air filter, when there is a K&N cone filter on the ST. Probably didn't think about it at the time as it was there when I bought it and I've only had the car a month.

So, would you go back for your tenner (the garage is a 2 min drive from my house) or would you just leave it.

Well aware this is not life or death, just contemplating my move tomorrow and I'm bored on a late one at work!

What else have they billed you for that they haven't fitted?

I trust the garage so I'm assuming it's just miscommunication between the guy totting up the bill, and the guy fitting the bits.

Go and get it. Money isn't easy to earn. No point pissing it away for literally nothing.

This would be my concern.

I would get the tenner, throw a can of red bull at them, go to their house and bum their dog then hammer frozen sausages in their lawn [/pistonheads response]

I don't believe any money is truly easily earnt. At least very little of it. Even in the case of, say, music royalties there was a fair bit of skill, effort and luck first time round. Or royals and the very public lives they lead etc.

Devils advocate here. Did you tell them it had a k&n filter? If not then would they not have bought a replacement filter expecting to fit it and passed the cost on to you?

Can someone explain the frozen sausages to me please? I've seen it a few times but don't get it.

And yes, go get the money. A tenner is still a tenner in anyones pocket.

And you think that's perfectly acceptable behaviour, without even explaining it to the customer?

Maybe they charged you for cleaning the air filter instead of replacing it?

Yeah... not so much devil's advocate there as bizarre.

2 seconds on Google produced this... next time, why don't you try Google?

Big bag of frozen sausages from Asda. Other supermarkets are available but you're up north.
Hammer them into his lawn vertically.
Wait until thawed, and every bird/badger/hedgehog/dog/fox in the area has ripped his lawn a new one.
If it's a big enough lawn, words can be formed in Ardennes style trenches

If you ever plan on going back again, definitely question it. Otherwise I might be inclined to avoid the confrontation and find another garage, nothing worse than that nagging feeling that you can't trust them.
