After cocking around with the dashboard lights in my 1999 Felicia I must've replaced a blown brake warning light bulb because it is now permanently on - the car has a seperate (!) (brake warning) and (P) (parking brake) which most newer cars combine hence I didn't notice it wasn't working before.

The brake fluid is not low and is not leaking. It needs a change because it's a fking foul colour but there's plenty in there. The sensor appears to do something (resistance change when it's removed from the tank) but I'm not sure how it's meant to operate so I don't know if it's definitely working correctly or not.

The car doesn't have brake pad wear sensors, or at least THIS car doesn't - I replaced the brake pads the other week and there was no wiring to be seen. It's a bit too primitive for that kind of fancy stuff anyway I suspect.

Any ideas? Anyone know these cars reasonably well and know if the wiring for the fluid level sensor is likely to run straight into the instrument panel or go somewhere else first?
