First comment on YouTube;

Dear Mr. Brack, As a deeply heterosexual petrolhead, I find myself desiring to cup your gentleman parts in order to measure the gargantuan immensity of your testicular fortitude. Bloody excellent pedalling good Sir.

Just out of curiosity, is it a manual or auto? I don't see him changing gear, unless the shifter is on the right hand side. I would have thought GT40s would be manual!
Shifter is on the right hand side.

What a fantastic video!

I'd imagine any of them.

Whether they *would* is another thing.
Really? The Iceman didn't do too well in Rallying as i remember... I stand ( and wish) to be corrected with a release of the corporate chains..

Nope - they use specially made racing tires from the vintage era... like these

I've seen that company advertising in Motor Sport/Octane.

As I said, seems mighty odd that a near 200mph 60's GT40 is still made to run old compound/tread patterns when much safer modern tyres are available. I'm all for 'keeping it real' but when it comes to safety I dont think any compromises should be made.

I think the 'Old man with a fat Cigar' has gone out of fashion in the last couple of years, seems to attract police investigations, maybe Newey should take note.

Great Video, just look at how he wrestles that steering wheel to keep the car on the black stuff bow You have got to have a large pair to do that!

It is quite normal for a car from that era in the rain.

Old cars can be very very fast. And they lack mechanical grip, even discounting the fact it was raining.

Consider that in the 1930's there were Mercedes GP cars capable of 220mph. They had narrower tyres than a Focus. Imagine taming that monster round Donington in the British GP.

Historic racing is the coolest thing there is when it comes to motorsport.
Its running on historic tires, probably Avon cross plies in the wet, that's why!

"Driving on eggshells" - so many life-saving corrections; if I did even one of these corrections properly I'd be dining out on it for days; these guys do it all the time.

For comedy, this well-known rally clip is good - at the "dear god" moment from the co-driver, apparently Vatanen hit a cattle grid and was headed for a wall:

French madman Gilles Nantet is always a safe bet for a 'dab of oppo' also - old historics, not much power or huge speed, but the trees, telephone poles and rocks add a bit of flavour:

Modern tyres will only give them more grip and allow them to go faster, Kenney Brack will still be on the limit only you have made the limit faster. Therefor the drivers will be having bigger accidents if and when they make a mistake. More grip does not necessary make it safer.

Is that the same GT40 as Newey "wrote off" at the LMC a few years ago - I saw it on the back of a low loader and it was almost broken in two.

I m rather proud to say that I was there, braving the mud and drizzle, and risking terminal damage to a good pair of shoes, jumping up and down watching a whole field of GT 40s thundering by. Motor sport in 2013 can be exciting, but you need old cars, and non stick tyres. Many, many times during the weekend, there were sights that were so stupefying, that even I found myself getting rather misty-eyed. The boy Harris did good too. I bumped into him in the marquee at the cricket match on Thursday, and wished him luck. Maybe it worked!
