I collected the car from Suffiolk on Monday, I am very, very pleased with it!

It is slate blue metallic with wheat (tan) leather. It came with a matching brand new Infinity aero roof box, tow bar, cargo net and boot liner, these extra bits cost a fortune new but came as part of the deal.

I have a list of things to sort out on it:

Complete valet and machine polish
4 new Tyres
Wheel refurb
Minor service
Rear entertainment system install

I had the car fully valeted today and the transformation is amazing!

I have booked it in for the wheels to be stripped and powder coated in a shadow chrome finish and to have 4 new Tyres fitted at the same time next week. The tyre size is 265/45/21, this is a Dunlop size only (for non winter Tyres) and cost circa £300 each. I wanted to try a 275 tyre which would give more choice and be cheaper but my insurers wouldn't allow it.

I have picked up a brand new set of Rosen AV7700 screens for the car for a bargain price, they will be fitted next Thursday so no more moaning from the back by my daughter hopefully!

I am stil deciding who to use for servicing, the car is under warranty until February 2014 so I would like to use an Infiniti dealer that knows the FX50 well to have a good poke about before the warranty expires. Reading and Leeds seem very helpful, there is a more local service centre in St Albans but they have only been around for a few months. Any recommendations are welcome!

The car is such a bargain compared to the competition as a used buy in my opinion. The interior is so well equipped and finished, it is comfortable and great fun to drive with very car like handling and amazing performance for such a big car.

I am hooked!

Glad you like it. They are good and it's sometimes good to be different from the herd who would go for a BMW or Audi. On reflection, probably one of the best overall SUV's if you don't need as much space as a more traditional 4x4 (and don't mind how much fuel you use)

Great choice, love these. I test drove one and the only problem was the sunroof which reduced the headroom too much for us tallies frown

Other than that, great beasts - very different and rare. smile

I dealt with Infiniti Stockport - they were great, a very friendly bunch felt almost like a family run business. Worth a look if you are local for servicing?

Look forward to the updates.

Thanks ModernAndy and Paul O.

I have had the Rosen screens installed this week and very pleased with them .

I have finally tracked down a set of Dunlops after hours of ringing around. I must say thanks to Camskill whom put me in touch with a competitor when they couldn't source a set of Tyres, top service!

I can't believe how many people have talked to me about the car when I have been out and about, people just don't seem to know about Infiniti, but are very positive about the car when they take a good look.

Next on the list is a service. Given my location I will probably drive to Reading to get it done. I do have a local service centre in St Albans but they have only been around for a couple of months. I think Reading see more cars than most so hopefully they will do a good job and have a thorough poke around before the warranty expires in February.

Saw your thread and thought I'd jump in as about to buy FX50 as well, picking it up on Friday. Be very interested to hear how you have got on with the car and Reading as will be using them as well before the end of the year.

Wookietaff, which car are you buying? There are so few around. I think I have enquirered about most that were for sale recently. Have you seen the white FX50 that's just popped up on eBay?

Check the condition of the Tyres carefully before you buy. The Tyres are only made by Dunlop for the FX50, they are almost impossible to get hold of at the moment. Infiniti dealers have a few sets but want £400 plus per tyre !

I will keep updating this thread. It would be great to have your input too.

Well done for going against the crowd. I seriously considered one as a replacement for my Mazda CX-7 petrol.

In the end I chickened out and bought a Land-Rover.

The Infiniti range really interests me. I quite like the fact it is a quality product with Nissan underpinnings, but very few people in the UK - wedded to brand names like VAG, BMW Land-Rover etc - would consider one.

Hope you enjoy it!

Milu the load height is 74 cm, the sloping rear roofline doesn't help!

Hi Mark, looks like you're enjoying the car smile

Do you have a link to the eBay car or has it Gone? What was the asking price/spec?

Wookietaff did say he's picking one up Friday, maybe that's the one?

Thanks for the heads up on tyre costs, that sounds crazy, will see if my insurer objects to different tyres.

Hi Andy, the EBay car seems to have disappeared for the time being. It was a 60 plate white car with I think 25,000 on the clock. It was for sale at an independent dealer in Liverpool for £22,995.

I found some tyres at half sensible prices after Camskill put me in touch with a competitor. They still have a few more sets if anyone needs some.

Interestingly when I spoke to the service manager at Infiniti Leeds, he said that they had seen a few FX50's in at 30,000 miles on their original tyres, due to the car being so well balanced. My car is on 31,000 with the original tyres and they stil have 2mm left.

Ah yes the Le Baron (or something similar) car. I think it was advertised on PH as well as it looked ok until I realised I'd have to go to Liverpool to view!

Deposit was placed on my Raptor today so I can now go shopping smile

Thanks for the info. I might give you a shout re tyres but tread seem fine on the silver car 4-5mm I'd guess, so not really worth buying a new set just yet especially at £1600.

Cheers again

Afternoon all

Likewise looked at, or spoke about, most of the FX50 on sale and when the white one you mention came up last week I thought it was the one for me. Having agreed a price with the dealer I picked it up on Friday from Liverpool. Drove about 500 miles this weekend to see relatives and happy to say I am impressed so far. And seems more frugal than I expected yet plenty of horses at your disposal if needed. Had the alloys painted black which I think adds a bit of presence to what is already an unusual car, at least on UK roads.

Tyres are all good, 8mm and 6mm back and front, so pleased about that given the prices you suggest. Warranty till end Dec so will also get it in to Reading Infiniti for an inspection before that date. Reading also offer an extended warranty for GBP720 a year, though not a manufacturer product its one they have confidence in so I'll probably take that out as it seems reasonable compared to BMW, Landrover etc.

Overall I'd say it offers amazing value in terms of kit, reliability, exclusivity and performance compared to the rest of the options in the market place. Albeit with some space and MPG limitations. But I'm only 4 days into ownership so watch this space.

Well done wookietaff, it looks like a nice car, I hope you are pleased with it. If you get a chance please update the thread with your impressions of the car etc.

It's a shame that Infiniti don't offer an insured warranty scheme like other manufacturers, I was told that they tried to do something some time ago but the annual renewal was in excess of £2k so they didn't have many takers...

The warranty offered by Reading is underwritten by Autoprotect. In order to put a warranty on the car you will need to have the car inspected no more than 2 weeks before the warranty is to be issued. The inspection I think is £250 plus vat, however I did get them to agree that if I had the car serviced around the renewal time that they would carry out the warranty inspection as part of the service without further charge. I am not sure what to do about this as I have some less than positive experience trying to claim on a TVR branded Autoprotect warranty some years ago...

I echo the congratulations Wookietaff smile you snooze you lose applies I guess smile

If a deal can be had it'll be done tomorrow which will make three FX50 owners here, fingers crossed!

Lastly I asked my insurer (Chubb) about using a section larger tyre and they had no issue whatsoever. So maybe I'll look into the different sizes before I do anything else.

Oh and has anyone looked into exhausts? I haven't actually heard the stock car as yet but am guessing it could do with a bit more noise?

Lastly come on guys, pics!! thumbup
