I like it. They're passionate about something and are fortunate enough to have the means to have done something about it. Far better than the Brunei household attitude of 'just get me 20 of those'.

If it were some chisel-jawed, tweedy 70something Italian count with a pile in Tuscany and a barn-full of 60 Fezzas, he'd be deemed a charming car-loving eccentric but if it's a pair of 'yee haw' yanks with 60 Vipers, then their "taste" is questioned confused

But it's not just that they have 60 dodges, they have 60 of the same model of car, many of which didn't deviate massively from the standard one apart from colour. It's not even that the Viper was ever that great a car, even in the terrible american market

Imagine again, if you will, that this Italian Count you speak of has tucked away in his barn 64 348's

Not so bothered by all the Vipers, but that garage is so cool. All the posters and comic art on the walls

Exactly Its just weird. 65 911s I could almost understand because theres so many different variants spanning decades but thats just not the case with vipers.

I always feel there is more to these stories than is told. No. No. And No. I wouldn't even if they were given to me. Just not what I personally like, but it is a free world, especially in Texas, where disagreements have a reputation of ending badly. So good for them. The world is made up of miserable buggers as it is; nice to see a change.

Well at least it seems they have every Viper variant going, with a plethora of mods and special editions.

In my book, they're loveable eccentrics, with a penchant for, lest we forget, 2-seat 'coops' propelled by 8.0-litre V10s smile

And judging by their wall art, they're also potty about Spider-Man - what's not to like? cool

To be fair that is apparently two-thirds of their collection. Wonder what the rest is?!

Not sure how a 60+ collection of 911s differs greatly from 60+ vipers of a similar vintage.

They seem to have coupes soft tops and ones with race inspired wings. Pretty much the same as you would a bunch of 911s collected from the same starting year. And probably with a similar amount of cosmetic changes over the years too.

Not for me this one model malrarky but fair play to them I say. Seems like they love it

So the lady has a whopping 650 cylinders and nearly as much litres of engine in the stable...
I understand some of us question the point of having 65 cars of the 'same' model.
On the other hand, you might feel al other cars have ridiculously small engines once you get used to the snakes.
But even then 65 is too much to enjoy them all I guess.

65 cars with totally different characters (would sell my left nut for a choice of 65 out of Jay Lenos collection) would be far more satisfying.
When I used to drive my Elise 111S as my daily, I became obsessed with the shortcomings of the design.
Right now I have 3 totally different cars which are all only half as good as the Elise, but I appreciate and enjoy them far more.
I currently have a 99 Chimaera 450, 71 Tuscan V6 and a 08 Freelander Td4, and I have a lightweight screaming four-pot with no windshield on the wish list.
By then all the space in the garage will be taken, but I'm sure I will all love them, appreciate their 'bright' sides and forget about the bad bits.
It is often told no 2 TVRs feel the same, but I'm pretty sure I'd be bothered about the Chimaera's shortcomings if I had 4 of them and no other cars.

Hell yeah - may not sound exciting to you but I've always fancied one, never owned one, loads of possible options (mostly classics I should say) - if you're going to stick to just one car and own loads of variants it offers more than - well - most anything else I can think of (aside from the 911).

Cars which have been great over many facelifts/new models are actually pretty rare - most cars 'just get better' - some 'were good once but not much since' (Golf Mk2).

Oh - Celica - nice original TA, Celica Supra Turbo, Nice Gen4 standard GT (like wot I once had), Gen 5 GT4 in Castrol colours - plz thx.

A 911 or 3 Series seems to fit the bill in terms of range/longevity/interest level perhaps - 2.7 RS (replica would be fine), a late 80s Carrera, a 964 Turbo Cab, a GT2, a GT3 and a Singer - maybe a Ruf - maybe an FF, of course...

or an E30, CSL, Carbonseries perhaps smile

It does seem more than a bit mental from where I'm sitting....65 different cars, or the stories of people having a replica 2.7 RS because they don't want to drive their original all the time/worry about it I get....65 of the same? 65 Fiat Puntos, all 1999-2013 vintage and you'd be pissing yourselves, but they like vipers so perfectly fine apparently.

Even if you got one of every important Viper, and included racers, I couldn't see you getting to that number. Mental.

Because it's stupid. It appears that the only difference between a lot of them is the colour.
...and?...

How long do we spend agonising over which colour to have the next car in? How many times have you had the "If I were getting a Lambo, would it be green, or orange?". How many times have you seen an alternative colour of the car you drive and thought "hummm...that DOES look nice.."

Problem solved, they've got one of each.

Sure, you can call it different, but at no point can anybody actually question the decision / level of taste / sense.

I used to know someone who wanted to open a Lancia Y10 sanctuary

If it were a collection of 65+ M-cars, hot hatches, MOPAR muscle etc etc then i'd totally get it, but 65 of what are basically the SAME cars ( albeit from different years, with different paint and some racing specials ) is just weird if you ask me.

Sure, i'f you've got the money and love Vipers, but a couple or a few even. Have some variety in models and special editions if you so wish.

One question though, how many models of Viper have there actually been? They must be doubling up on at least a couple and not even realise it.
Top Trump swapsies ?? I've got a '08 Vectra Cdti if you want to trade for the blue GTS they're driving in the video.

Cool to own a few to keep the miles down. But very strange to go this ott. So many people are hoarders. I see it on many levels in different hobbies. One guy bought every colnago bike in every colour of the rainbow. He bought another property just to store them. Same thing can be seen in RC cars, hifi, all sorts. Very odd people out there.Therapy would be cheaper!
