Remember seeing the Teal 59 many years ago - What a lovely car in it's own right! Must have been great to drive with it's Jag running gear. I'd certainly like to own one, but suspect even a Teal 59 is outside my budget...... A genuine Bugatti more so.
Many years ago I had the pleasure of a day at Prescott, and the atmosphere, the racing and the museum are great, and well worth a visit - In fact the racing (hillclimbing) is so good, and CLOSE that I've never bothered since to go to a race where it's vital to use binoculars!

I came across the Bugatti owner's club in Edinburgh last summer. These ones are the real deal..

Why do the Teals use the name Bugatti? There is nothing Bugatti about them. Other than being blue and having no roof, they are a completely different design.
I'm sure they are great fun but I don't understand the desire to link them to Bugatti when they don't have anything in common with Bugatti in terms of design.
You could have an AC Cobra replica and that would have a similar design and the same V8 engine. Same for a Jaguar SS100 from Suffolk, or a Realm Jaguar C type with a Jaguar engine. I get that - because those replicas are at least 60% the same as the original - some of them even more.
But the Teal Bugatti has zero percent in common with a Bugatti.
I think they are great cars in their own right and I am not being negative, so please don't misunderstand me. Im just trying to understand how someone created a really nice kit for a old school 2 seater, which drives really well, but then decided to brand it a Bugatti. You may as well call it a Teal Malcolm. Or Andrew. Or Martin.

TEALS were inspired by the Bugatti type 35 grand prix cars of the 1920's, they are about 40% larger than a Bugatti to make them a bit more practical, i think Bugatti as a company did not exist at the time 30 years ago
the dark blue one had just recently been completed and passed the IVA test hence some of the odd bits like reverse lamps, headrests and handbrake lever cover
owners added the Bugatti badges themselves, it seems if you run without a badge everyone thinks its one anyway, i have made a point of having two TEAL badges on the front of mine, every car is different even if they were factory built
yes they were a kit car built with morris marina parts, and did evolve with different suspension design it later life and went on to use triumph six engines, Nissan turbo, fiat and alfa twin cams and even jaguar 4'2 engines, most will have wire wheels (again a later development of the marque) as per the Bugatti type 37 has
under the ownership of BOB JONES the Teal model range developed and encompassed a four seat tourer, a rare type 59 model using jaguar engines and a couple of one off cars a type 44 and a recently rediscovered and recommissioned by myself tourer prototype fitted with doors and wings with running boards that had been missing for some 28 years and a couple of type 43 models
I have had and do have many cars but the none give the same reward the Teal does, a Teal is a blast to drive and never fails to bring a smile to people you pass on the road
my car DNA88T was built by, ex 1950/1960s racing driver PETER JACKSON (see austin healey sprite 46BXN ) it has many unusual features, very briefly : a 1600 triumph 6 engine (reported to be the first teal to be fitted with a triumph six ) she has a sprintex supercharger, triumph 2000 o/d gearbox with the right hand gearchange (to give more room in the cosy cockpit, (bugatti's had a righthand gearchange) the car suspension ride height is much lower than the average teal and has many suspension mods, a genuine Bugatti steering wheel and gearbox top cover fitted on top of the tunnel, teal type 59 dials (by fluke i met the guy who made my dials when i was staying in Gloucester) its still a work in progress with more development to the engine and suspension to come
the photos in southwold are from a trip organised by a club member we have in the area ,annual trips to france and spain are the norm, this year we have been to holland and we have just had a john o groats to lands end trip to celebrate the 30th year anniversary of the club, its great fun and most members still have and enjoy the car they built 25 plus years ago,
we have a new member i think he is 83
