We can have a silly debate about it all day but we all understand how an engine works and know that a turbocharged straight six with similar maximum power as a naturally aspirated V8 will be quicker. This is why the 1M is as fast as the E90 M3 even though it's nearly 90bhp down on power.
tell me about it. i had a 1M harrying me along a Belgium autoroute and boy are those things quick.

one of the most accelerative cars i have ever been was Ren 5 GT turbo. very much nothing...nothing...60mph in 3 secs.

I have the 7 speed DCT in my Z4.

As some of you know my right arm is fecked so the DCT is a great aid for me. To be honest it really is a great piece of kit when you are on the move.

However the faffing about it does from D to R and back, especially doing 3 point turns and parking is a real pain in the backside. The ZF box is much quicker in this regard.

Hmmmmmm........ I don't have any issues in this regard with the DCT in my 135, and living in a tight cull-de-sac, 3 or 5 point turns are a daily chore for me.
The conventional auto's I had in my previous two cars were much 'slower' in the D-R-D swopping than the DCT is....???

I agree with Andy, my DCT faffs like a good'un, I have to pause once I make the shift otherwise I end up with no gear and my 8sp ZF was much better in this regard.

I have to do a 3 point turn on the drive way which slopes downward away from the road and end up if I don't pause, rolling backwards whilst the car thinks about selecting 1st.

That's not to say yours isn't behaving of course.

Really pleased its being offered as a manual & maybe in a few years I will swap my E92 M3 Manual for one as the improved torque lighter weight & tuneability sounds like a winner to me.

Most will sell as DCT as the MPG gains & lower emissions seem to be a massive pull for the majority but I just struggle to get excited about a twin clutch but happy that the punters are given a choice of what gearbox they prefer.
