Mineral blue all day long.
On that type of car, a light colour makes it look cheap, crappy and old. A darker colour makes it look more classic and professional.
I reckon that's one reason the e-type looks so good in BR Green. Can you imagine a bright red e-type? Ugh.
Oh I don't know. I think it looks epic!On that type of car, a light colour makes it look cheap, crappy and old. A darker colour makes it look more classic and professional.

At least I've narrowed it down now.
But they are both very different, silver or red.
I really like both.
Red suits the B nicely but I want the right shade that doesn't look orange in sunlight.
Silvery grey like AMV silver birch is very classic & classy but also a very unusual colour for the B.
Am I considering silver because having spent a lot of money on a rebuild I want to see a change of appearance perhaps?
Or would I truly prefer a different look as it does make the car take on a very different appearance.
This is such a difficult decision to make!

A mid grey like mist, or healey blue, looks very classy.
But you're clearly torn on tartan red - tartan red 2 looks a little darker on the colour palette. I actually think a slight orange colour cast in the sun is the mark of a proper bright red, some look cherry which is the wrong tinge altogether
A nice problem to have!

I came across this ebay auction and thought the MGB looked fantastic in this colour, I had never seen one and to be honest had never been a big fan of the MGB in general before.

I think bright silver for some reason doesn't suit the B, not sure why. Maybe because it wasn't a standard factory colour.
Pewter or Gunmetal like the previous picture looks great. Plenty of clear coat.
This is mine, not an LE. Was originally painted white and then repainted by the previous owner, but dont know the name of the colour. Slightly light than the LE pewter and changes a bit in the sunlight.
Dont start with all this rubber bumper bla bla bla.

I like the last 2 cars posted, lovely silver and a lovely metallic grey.
My current thoughts are that the Tartan Red or similar really suits the MGB & is a great contrast to the chrome but as said by someone else, it's a more common colour.
I like a silvery grey as it's unusual on the mgb & looks great with the chrome. It's also timeless & classy & gives a feeling of solidity to a car.
I did watch the Mark Evans A Car Is Reborn and thought his choice of colour was excellent but a little more grey than I'd like mine. I think the AMV Silver Birch is about right on the balance of grey and silver, perhaps a shade darker like the chrome bumpered lhd MGB posted above. As said, lots of clear coat & highly polished is a must!
So I'm leaning toward the silver grey option.

I'd be tempted to look at some period images.
There was some images of a lovely GT6 MK3 in silver, was it in Germany or Switzerland, that while great I am not sure silver was the best of shades.
That rear, downward looking shot of the BGT in silver looks to have too many lines in it. The shade seems to draw the eye to the component parts, the shutlines rather than the whole.

The GT6 was a MK2, not a 3:

It looks OK in the street.
