So with a m3 I don't fancy facing winter, simply because i live up a tricky hill and quite a rural area - had issues with previous rwd cars.

Debating whether to get winter tyres or just buy a cheap £2k-3k run around like a civic type r.

Which would you go with ?

I tend to sell my cars after 18 mths and if it matters in terms of winter tyre cost, the m3 is an e92.

Why not buy something that will cope better with the snow like something with quattro or AWD?

Winter tyres and a very light right foot, no point running two cars. I use Michelin Alpines (albeit on a light FWD) and they are magnificent.

And if you do decide to get a 2nd car, maybe not something with a peaky engine and relatively stiff setup?

Thanks for the responses guys - I think this video has just made my mind up that winter tyres might be the best bet...

I'll see how much they cost, but couldn't stomach spending something like £2k if i need rims too (not keen to use my current ones)... frown
