Has anybody had any dealings with this company? I'm selling a car on Autotrader at the moment and have just been sent an offer from them which seems very reasonable. They are one of the many we buy any car type companies but their offer seems very good which has made me a bit sceptical.

Funny you should say this, my mate is selling a car in the same way as you and has also just had a very reasonable offer for his motor from the same company. He asked me about it, and i've never heard anything about them before.

Had an offer from the same company when selling a car recently.

A couple of minutes on Google pointed to it being a scam, so I avoided.

I had a message from them about 10 minutes ago with what appears to be a reasonable offer. I am however going to ignore it.

I had so much of this rubbish when I advertised my car it's put me off using auto trader again. The majority of the emails I got were "best price" scams and I had loads of text messages to buy my car from companies.

Just had a text from this company and followed it up on their website. Turns out they want a £50 booking fee, (discounted from £100 for one day only...! *sigh*) to ensure that you turn up, returnable on purchase.
Don't know about you guys but I wouldn't pay someone to come view my house, etc?

Thanks for this thread. My father in-law just had the same text today too and asked me if I knew about it.

I've had a few of these when selling cars recently and it's basically a scam with them using the name auto trader not autotrader looked for the website etc and can't seem to find it, In theory what company would give you £50 less than what you are selling you car for it's usually in them cases that they want to bid you in the nuts for your car.

Ref buynow-autotrader.com. I have had 2 texts now from them confirming their price for my car, also very close to what I am asking. Suspected this might be a scam, followed all the questions through and came to the final page and BINGO!!! .....send special reduced rate of £50, to confirm I am genuine and a buyer will appear at my home tomorrow. £50 refunded immediately whether he buys the car or not. HOW VERY REASSURING ! Clearly a scam, if anyone gets one of these texts do please ignore it. Since advertising my car in Autotrader for the last 10 days, all I have had is emails with long stories and offers to buy my car straight away, payment by pay pal or `an agent` will call with a draft higher than I am asking and for me to give the `agent` the balance back...in cash of course. Until Autotrader can sort these scammers out I shall not use it again. I do hope they have not caught out too many people.

Reply that in return for a £50 fee, deductible on sale, you will hold the car for them until they have looked at it wink
