I've just bought this...
...1.3 Skoda Felicia Estate for £200 for Mum and Dad.
Seats five comfortably...
...cavernous boot...
...economical and bulletproof 1.3 Skoda engine with VW bits. Cheap to run, insure, lower tax bracket and hardly any modern stuff to go wrong.
Could this be the best car for £200?

No VW bits that Im aware of. The Felicia is a Fvorit which VW engineers re-worked to make fit.
The only petrol Felicia with any proper VW bits (exc. the steering wheel etc) is the 1.6l which used an old Golf engine.
I bought one and entered a charity rally with it. It was quite nippy but it still only had 1.3l brakes and suspension...

Back in February I got pissed and fell onto ebay wondering what was the cheapest car I could find that had tax and MOT. It turned out that £156 was the cheapest, which happened to be my winning bid. The only thing was, I hadnt really checked where the car was, living in Sheffield at the time and the car was in Darlington.
The car had a non standard exhaust on it, which lasted most of the A1 on the way back. And there was no engine fan or working temperature gauge. I think I spent more fixing it up then I paid for the car, but anyway, it was a laugh

As a keen shedder IMO a car at this price point is pretty much worth how much test it has. I bought a 323i a few years ago 7 moths tax, 11 ish month test for 320. Best shed ever sailed through it's MOT then sold it as although the engine was strong the body work was a bit too sheddy. sold it with 256k on the clock!

My first car was the hatch of that, 1.3, X-reg. Perfect condition. Bought it for £100*.
Did 20K in it over 9 months and sold it for £600.
I still miss it, nothing even considered going wrong, and it was a brilliant car. Some of my happiest motoring memories in that.
None of that matters when your glovebox open upwards and is large enough for an ice bucket, champagne and a round of magnums!

I can beat that bought a 2000 landrover freelander 2.5 v6 for £200 only needed a new transfer box which was a result.
Also bought a rover 216 convertiable for £90 put a mot on it only needing 2 bulbs and sold it 2 weeks later for 6 times my investment also sold the freelander for twice what I spent on it and getting it back on the road, this was only last month that was a good few weeks for me.
