I do love your cheap car shenanigans LK
That van is a cracking buy but what ever happened to your Gulf Cinq ? I loved that.
meanwhile,
I've just picked up a Ford SportKA for £350. Needs MOT/Tax but should be on the road for £550 all in

I always felt sorry for the Sport KA as it was overshadowed by the Fiesta ST and Puma. Nippy little roller skate it reminds me of the old Fiesta Si 1.6 (MkIII).
Guff was scrapped as it was a terribly repaired front end shunt that basically bent the whole floor. Guff II is still on my driveway waiting for me to decide what engine to make fit. V8 or V8?

what is that fiat van?? some sort of panda van?
Fiorino based on the Fiat 147 made in Brazil. 1.7 N/A Diesel so good for 60+mpg as well. What happened to the Escort van you were fitting Focus rear suspension to?

And for pulling the skin from rice puddings Only jesting, nice find.
If getting "free" cars counts then to date I have managed a couple of VW Polos 3 mk2 fiestas, a Citreon Xsara vtr, a Saab 9-3 tid, and a VW Corrado G60.
As for paid for cars over the years I have been honing my shedding skills and am pretty good at finding sub £500 cars. In total I must have bought over 20 odd cars for <£200 but these days it is becoming harder when people think a wreck with no tax or test is £250+ in scrap.
LiquidK - I to have followed your shed threads for a while and admire your commitment to finding unusual cars from the bottom end of the market.

This is the lost soul Golf. MkII GTI 8V engine (basically) so a bombproof 115bhp, MkII chassis and interior with MkIII styling and an insulated electric roof that is arguably the best of the era.
Okay 115bhp isn't going to set the world on fire considering how heavy the car is but buying a convertible in Winter is supposed to be a good idea. Come Spring time I'll give the car a good polish and knock it out for book price. Failing that ruin the paint, cut the springs, put a load of stickers on it and sell it for five times what it owes me to a "Dub Scene" mug.
Insurance is roughly the same as my 1.6 Punto Sporting was so this could be a bargain or pretty good breaker. Win-win.

A few scabs here and there but not bad.
Collected and it felt a bit odd really. The only minor hick up was due to the broken engine mount. The first roundabout I stopped at the engine rocked back and knocked the induction pipe off the throttle body. However that wasn't the odd part. So I didn't break down again I had to drive like I had Miss Daisy in the back. This wasn't odd it was bloody weird. I was sat looking at a MkII Golf GTI dash, sat MkII GTI seat, holding on to a MkIII GTI Steering wheel, with the unmistakable sound of a MkII eight valve GTI engine and five speed MkIII GTI gear knob; but the car felt refined, softly spring and the extra weight made it feel a lot better planted than my old MkII, MkIII or even MkIV GTI. The power steering is well weighted and positive so rather than wondering if the steering wheel is connected to the car at all as I used to on the MkIV I was keeping momentum around the corners. Thus helping the engine mount and as a result...
...over 50mpg!!!
Bonkers. I'm looking forward to giving the old bus a wash and tidy up tomorrow and get her up in the air to take a closer look at the engine mount.

Just to fill in the missing gap. My Fiorino died a death worthy of any Italian vehicle. I sold various parts and weighed the rest in to raise the £236 I paid for this...
