Is there a better cheap track car than an MX5?

That just seems like an MX5 that isn't quite as good in any area though (apart from maybe straightline speed).

In answer to the original thread question, having run cheap track cars for 12 years, I actually genuinely don't think there is a better cheap track car than an MX5. Plenty of (small, French) FWD options that are as good maybe but the very fact they're FWD makes them not as good!

MX5s are cheap, reliable, gentle on consumables and fun. They also don't really need any mods at all to be perfectly usable for trackdays, which is pretty rare for a road car.
