!!! Stolen MGC !!! Reg YGC 766G

Hi all,

My dad has just had his red 1969 MGC Roadster stolen from on the street in Clapham in London.

Reg - YGC 766G

Could you please let me know if there are any sightings of it ([e-mail]) - he's had the car for over 40 years, so as you can image its like losing a member of the family!

That's terrible.

"Just" stolen as in a little earlier today? If so then it's worth putting notices everywhere you can think of (Facebook etc? Twitter?) as it should stand out in that locale and be easy to spot.

...'just' as in 6 / 7pm last night - we're trying to cover twitter / facebook / car forums as best we can.

Have a feeling that its probably off the road by now (garage / storage container etc.) but there's so few of them around so it should hopefully be pretty recognisable if it does make it back onto the road.

Have you checked any local cctv on houses or shops? It may show a tow truck if that was the way it was taken. The police should hopefully also be able to check the local road cameras.

Thanks for the suggestion - my sister is checking any CCTV cameras on local shops and we've also applied to the council and TFL for access to the street / road monitoring CCTV footage.

Fingers crossed this will turn up something.

A few additional features of the car:

Chasis Number: GCN1490
Mini lite wheels
Custom built radio where the speaker would have been, which accommodates an i-phone.
Chrome rocker cover.
American inlet manifold
6 branch exhaust, Zircotec heat treated in white

It's probably on a container ship by now; these sorts of car rarely stay in the UK for long because the community is too close-nit.

I really hope you get it back, but I wouldn't be holding my breath if I was you.

...unfortunately, I think you're right. can't imagine how anyone could shift it in the UK without it popping up in all of the MG owners club forums.

Still, you never know - we might get a lead somewhere.
