So how much are people really paying for the M135i?Saw one in black yesterday and the howl it made was quite splendid.
If we are talking 35k with options but actually paying 30k then my interest just went through the roof.
Discounts have been quite favourable, I'd iamgine it'll obviously vary from dealer to dealer but you could likely drive away in one for the figures you are mentioning, or there abouts. If we are talking 35k with options but actually paying 30k then my interest just went through the roof.

Think the Golf will start fully shining when VW make an R version.
They already have. Orders are starting to go through in a few weeks. It would certainly be far more relevant. Why don't they compare a Jetta TDi to a BMW M550d next? Because it's kind of the same thing...lmsrocket said:
I smoked an A45 the other day on the m6, 2 or 3 times the a45 was in my mirror, RS3 has more puff higher up the mph.
I overtook a Ferrari F355 on a country road in my mum's car. The Ferrari is a decent car, but I deduce the Saab 9-3 has better mid-range performance and is better on the twisty bits.PunterCam said:
Automatic? Is it not meant to be a hot hatch?? I'm confused... Automatics are for old people and luxury saloons
Offset pedals in manual BMWs cause me sciatica. Experience from a 123d i owned. Really wanted to own the M135i, so auto was the compromise. Its a good job the ZF box is so outstanding. Not tried the golf so can't comment but have tried three different M135is.
Really like the drive, it's very quick and would be stuck between choosing the very good manual or very good auto. The only downsides were that it is hideous and doesn't have a dif.... the M235i with optional dif might just be the holy grail.
On Friday I'm going to be lucky enough to try the A45 for a week. I've always preferred the RWD M cars and AMGs over the quattro RSs so it'll be interesting to see what it's like.
Of the non AMG/sort of M Car variants I'd probably prefer the 1 Series.

The diff is going to be a retrofit dealer option. And will be available on the M135i. I always loved an ugly duckling, and personally love the looks of the M135i. I drove two 3dr (white and a blue) and a 5dr in blue but never warmed to the looks. When approaching it I had to ask myself if I was rushing because it's so good to drive or so I don't have to look at it any more and it's somewhere in the middle.
I agree RE the ugly duckling comment but there's a line, the Renault 5 GT was horrid to look at but had an ugly charm to it. To a degree I think the X6M is similar (although I know that really is Marmite).
I'm not bothered by it but I'm surprised none has brought up sound actuators yet.
