having just spent another £800 on my ageing Cayenne V8 i need to pull the trigger on an oil burner for motorway plodding. currently torn between a deal on one of the run off Merc C250 coupes (very loaded and cheap) or an E class saloon as it is the facelift.

basically the same price at £225 + vat (9+23 profile), can't decide and no other deals jumping out at me. both seem very good value as the mercs appear to have slightly better basic spec than other premium brands.

like the 530M for a bit more cash but a few silly bits of kit are included on the E class that would add another £40-50 to the BMW and push it a bit too far. very frustrating
I have an E-Class but would take the 530 all day long. The C-Class is much smaller and more nimble, but not as relaxing on the motorway. I'd take the E-Class over the C-Class if it's never going to see a corner or a tight parking space.

What are the silly bits of kit because there's not a great deal that I can think of?

Agree with that.

I had an F11 5 series before the E350 estate, the BMW was better in every single area, refinement and comfort were the most noticeable, which was the big surprise.
Not saying the E Class is a bad car, and I would have another, but the 5 series is a notch above.

That's some good going!

They've got a golf R for £225inc VAT (£1800 deposit).

Goes up to £268 with 10k miles PA, still a great deal if a physical car exists :-)

I'm pretty disappointed with the current lease deals. My C63 goes back in Feb and I urgently need to order a car. Not impressed at all with the lease deals so likely to go PCP this time.

Currently looking at:

1. BMW 640d Coupe - awesome car for the ££££ with £20k dealer / BMW FS discount - close to getting a better deal than I can find on any lease site
2. Mercedes A45 - wife does not like this option... awaiting a PCP quote, suspect it will be more expensive than my C63! It is a great fun car though!
3. Audi S3 Saloon - some great deals out there, but a bit of a boring car and had a previous S3 in 2001 so not sure if I want to go back
4. M235i - Just too expensive with toys added and no 19" wheel option is not great

On the lease sites nearly everyday and on here looking for that great deal.

I want 300bhp+, reasonable economy, and lots of kit as standard and a maximum lease cost of around £600 per month with 3 or 6 months deposit (max 24 or 36 month term for contract lease).
You'd easily get a M235i.

If you can stomach a hatch instead, you can get PCP's currently on a bog standard 135i for less than £400 a month, no deposit. Once you spec it up with Pro Nav etc. it'll still be cheap. Think 235i is roughly £150 more a month.

Almosy posted that, but the deposit is £2500 and it's £277 a month for 5k a year.

The golf is better value.

well the 530 is £300+vat (6+23) and the merc is 229+vat (9+23). folding mirrors is one that springs to mind and the stereo on the Merc seems a bit better than the business audio, also the excess at 9ppm beats the BM at 14.4ppm and i'm likely to do an extra 10,000 over 2 years.

total for BM over 2 years inc excess miles, £12,168. Merc is £9875

will be used for twice weekly plod up and down the M4; have a toy for throwing around at weekends.

That deal is very similar to mine.

My car doesn't have or need folding mirrors and I am not an audiophile (although business nav probably isn't great).

However with the excess mileage and the price difference, I'd take the E-Class.

other issue is that the E Class is a physical car and the 530 is a January; if that were available i'd probably pay the extra for the 5.

Amazing! Even got my enquiry fingers twitching...do we think this is genuine for a personal lease?

No it isn't a genuine personal lease. You need to be in receipt of business mileage or a company director it's a little misleading.

Does it mention this on the website or only when you enquire?

As I'm a company director, I might have to pop in an enquiry for this.

As a general question about leasing, do you pay the initial hefty payment to secure the vehicle or upon delivery? Or does it depend on the provider?

Just curious as the deposit on ordering a new vehicle at a dealer is usually much less.

Focus ST-3 with Style pack for £215.99 pcm on a 6+23.
My mate just ordered this today! Added some RS style pack stuff to it and ended up £230 a month for 2 years. 250hp for £230 - nice!

Equivalent PCP needed £2k deposit and £398 per month!

i think i'm coming to that conclusion, the 530 is a better car with a 6 pot rather than a 4 but rumbling along at 75mph on the M4 will i care that much? the saving pays for the multicar policy.

the idea is that the saving on fuel effectively pays for the lease; even i can't make the man maths work well enough to get to the extra monthly costs!
