I'd be more unhappy that the car manufacturer is applying differential pricing.
Why so? Surely manufacturers are entitled to implement whatever pricing policy they want? There no need for them to get your approval and it doesn't have to be 'fair'.
Yes, but I'd be unhappy as I want the lowest price. I'm already miffed enough that all sorts of people can get employee / friends and family / VIP etc deals, which vary from being not that good to astonishing, without there being yet another channel that is unavailable to me.

Meh listen to internet experts, no skin off my nose biggrin
Most (if not all) of these deals will be through manufacturer owned finance companies, won't they?

Maybe half (if that will be).

Arval, Lex, Alphabet, Hitachi etc etc all fund 1000's of vehicles a year. Not sure if Hitachi do PCH though if I'm honest. As an example, Lex are cheaper than Renault for Clio's at the moment, and Hitachi are cheaper than Renault on Captur's so you'd be better off going that route, and a switched on broker will (should) know this unless they only use one or two funders

may have hit a bit of a brick wall. Insurance costs, £2500....Nope, no typo, 2 and a half grand. wkers

Any sort fo questions I need to ask when making contact with lease company?

Have changed around the named drivers/policy holder etc. now down to £800
Be careful. The lease company will expect you to insure their car (theirs, not yours) correctly. Adding a few family members as named drivers, maybe... but changing the principal policy holder?

I assume from the low insurance group and and the insurance cost that you are a recent driver?

Always useful knowing excess mileage fees if you feel you might come close or exceed the quota of the lease.

Ok but If you're the main user, that's illegal. It's "fronting". Do what you want but don't say no one warned you.

Whilst we're discussing insurance, my documentation states that 'the vehicle must be insured in your own name'. I've applied for the lease but my wife will be the main driver, so her name will be on the insurance.
Will this be a problem, or is it just to prevent people from leasing cars for people who can't get credit?

they need to know the insurance is valid. If the lessee is a different person to the insured, then this indicates there may be a future issue with the insurance, such as with mr fronty above, which would render the insurance invalid.

In my situation the lease is in my name, however my Wife is the policy holder with myself as the main driver. The lease company suggested they preferred the lease to be in the name of the main driver (though they stated this didn't specifically have to be the case), and it made no difference to the insurance company, hence the reason the main driver can differ from the policy holder.

I am doing the same for my wife's GLA when it turns up in March. I wanted to be the point of contact for the lease company so put the car in my name but its her insurance policy and I am a named driver as its her car and I rarely drive it.

i don't think that's what he's saying though. I think it's all in his name apart from the insurance - although i am not sure how you can have a policyholder that isn't the main driver. Not sure what the benefit is unless trying to get around the same things that fronting tries to do. We're at risk of this turning O/T again.

I own and insure both of our family cars in my name, however for the one that my wife drives she is the main driver on the policy.

It's something we have always done, not to gain any specific advantage. Back in the days when we could only afford one car it was all in my name, when we then bought a second snotter just for me to get to work in I started a second insurance policy and it just carried on from there.

Still struggling to make up my mind between purchasing a 2009 Z4 or leasing a 125d Auto - got some more quotes today...

125d Auto in black 3+23 £250 pcm inc VAT (effective £270) or the same with 15k £285 (effective £308)

I really love the auto so this is seriously tempting...
Leasing company please ?

Yes, I'm wanting to do the same as S5V8. I'm the contact for the leasing company, but the car will be insured in the wife's name, with myself as a named driver. I'll drop the leasing company an email, as I can't see why it would be a problem.

As far as i'm concerned the Zetec S is by far the best option. Although i'm not sure if Rivervale are putting their prices up, as when you click on the £119.99 link, the price now shows as £131.99 per month.

Because the insurance policy must be in the name of the entity who has the insurable interest. The lessee is the person with insurable interest, as they are insuring an asset to prevent a loss (i.e. car gets written off, money owed to leasing company). It is not legal to take out an insurance policy where no insurable interest exists (try taking out a theft policy for your neighbour's car, or life insurance on the old woman down the street, let us know how far you get).

The wife of the lessee effectively has no insurable interest: e.g. car gets written off, wife gets cheque from insurance company for the market value; husband owes market value to the leasing company, has argument with wife, wife runs off with the gardener and the cheque; husband is up st creek as still owes money to leasing company.

In terms of policyholder and main driver, that does not matter - the policyholder and main driver do not have to be the same person. You can be the lessee and the policyholder, but you do 2000 miles/year and your wife does 12000 miles/year - that is about the insurance risk.

- Lessee/policyholder is a matter of legal insurable interest.
- Main driver is a factor of insurance risk.
