A couple of months ago there were some good deals on Volvo V40's. Due to work commitments I was unable to take one at the time.
Anybody seen any good deals recently? I need a diesel, auto on 18-20k-pa. Big ask I know.

were you waiting for the price to come down further or are you just a massive pussy?

Couldn't convince myself that I couldn't find something more exciting that cost less than 5k over two years of ownership.
I get what you're saying but you might be waiting a while. Might be an idea to consider buying used?

I'm thinking of getting an ST3 for the Mrs . I had to cancel the Golf R I had on order last year due to her breaking her elbow at work frown
Sold her beloved Corsa Gsi today , owned for 18 years so a new car is on the horizon and the ST3 for £ 180 a month seems like a good enough deal .

I'm going to look like a nit picking tt on this page, but why did you cancel an order on a great deal because your mrs broke her elbow? Could you not just delay delivery a bit and the maybe drive it yourself for a few weeks? How long can you not drive for after such a break??

Sorry that's what I meant. Most decent 10k cars won't be 5k in 2 years time, looking at Z4 3.0's at the moment.

There is a lot to be said for the piece of mind with something new though.

Ah the old loop of should I shouldn't i indecision! Been there. Buy the bmw as at least if it doesn't work out you can sell it, with a lease you're stuck!

Is that first one as cheap as it looks (167.99 inc VAT)?!

To be honest, the best i saw was a Stratstone deal. A PCP not Lease.
Quite lumpy up front @£7990 down, but monthly's were £389 on a 6.9% APR over 48 months.
That was for a Dynamic 5 dr with pan roof, spare wheel and privacy.
They're putting in £2k at present, which makes it more palletable. Most Personal Lease deals were north of £500, and i need to keep the monthly amount to a minimum. This also gives you the option to sell it, and as the residuals are so strong that seems wise.
PCP'd ours.
14k down (they put in 2k), £350/month - 3 year deal. Full spec Dynamic - pan roof, keyless, service plan, privacy, etc...
Ended up getting the best deal from LR in Glasgow - Taggarts I think theyre called.
Initially we went to buy a used, trading up from a Ford Kuga, but the residuals are so strong a used car just didn't make sense.
I was a bit worried going for an Evoque, more the misses that pushed for it. But wow what a great piece of kit, very impressed and a good step up from the Kuga.

Might Be an idea to avoid keyless if you can until they can make it more secure!

That's £24,250 over three years, even assuming that only £12k came from you/your car, less any equity in the new car at the end of the term, or akin to £551/month on a 9+35 if there is no equity.

Well , She broke her elbow last August and it still hasn't healed . She has not been able to drive since the accident and is still unable to work . She is seeing
a specialist in February and may require an operation to get full use of it back . Physio has said there is nothing more they can do for her and she has about 50%
use of her arm back ...

So with all that in mind , it seemed pointless in having another car sat on the drive that wasn't going to get used.

Not boasting but I have 4 cars of my own ,and 3 of them hardly get any use as it is without adding another car into the equation.

She still had her old Corsa Gsi ( just sold that yesterday ) which she loved ,sitting on the drive gathering moss plus my daughters car which could also be used .

So seeing as we weren't short of cars in the family and she wasn't actually able to drive , it didn't make sense to take delivery of the Golf .

I hope that helps you understand why I cancelled the Golf !

Has anyone seen a lease deal on Fiesta ST for better than G2L's £191.99?
Thinking of signing on the dotted line within the next week.

He's comparing the PCP total payable (£24k) to a lease agreement, which for the same total payable over three years, would be a £550ish per month deal. You can get an Evoque on a 9+35 deal for £299.99/month for 10k miles per year (total payable £13,199.56) https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing....

Even if you have, say, £4k equity in it at the end (I don't know if that's a realistic amount), you've still spent about £7k more than if you'd leased it.

If you plan to pay the PCP balloon payment and keep the car at the end of the term, that's a different matter.

Am I missing something or does that seem a horrendously expensive/bad deal?

I looked at an evoque for my wife last year and n a pcp it was £320 per month with a £3000 deposit

It's about right for the spec of the car, annual mileage, etc.

Sure you can get a cheaper evoque cheaper. So go for it.

Lots of ifs and what ifs and you coulds in this thread. I'm sure everyone else can always do better.

Just sharing our actual experience. Which is proving to be a happy one.
