Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me how long it roughly takes for a lease car to be delivered?
I went for the Fiesta ST-3 at £180 from First Vehicle Leasing and was asked what colour i wanted.
Went away and basically said id prefer Blue but wanted a car asap. The guy said for a pre built car you are looking at around 2 weeks.. for a car that has to be built in the factory, around 8 weeks.

Luckily Blue was available pre built so went with that.
Its been a week since my first email regarding this deal and the finance department has only just accepted everything and has sent paper work out.

No idea what this paperwork is for.. but i was told by the agent its 18 days for delivery AFTER this has been returned.

Just quite annoyed as i was expecting the car at the latest end of next week as its just sitting somewhere waiting to be registered. Any advice would be welcome on average waiting times and what this paperwork is.

Thanks.

Read the paperwork. Complete the paperwork. Send it back ASAP. Ask for ETA from the leasing company. Sounds like they already gave you one but you're dragging your heels completing your end.

Edit: A week sounds about right for finance. It's not just like buying something from a supermarket shelf..

5000 miles per year? You'd be scared to drive it!

Not everyone has a commute or high mileage. 8k would suit me fine.

Just not in that.

Only 5K miles. The Skoda deal is 10K.

Apart from contracthireandleasing are there any other leasing comparison sites?

I now have a list of a few from this thread but every now and again a new one appears which I can never find!

cheers

My Mum's retail purchase Fiesta took 17 days, and only one of those was spent on the dealer's forecourt, even though it had already left the factory before it was ordered.

Eta: still there.
I'm new to forum and just posted a call for advice, then been trawling through last few pages of lease deals to find there is someone who can help, TheBroker, then saw your and talksthetorques comments.

Perhaps you belong in the what makes you think nob thread, I for one will be grateful for his/her help, as perhaps they will know what they're talking about rather than just being an arse.

Now, any good deals on a Lexus NX?

I don't know if they've always been popular and I've only just noticed them, but recently I've been seeing GTC coupes all the time - like 3 or 4 each way on my 30 minute(ish) commute. I did wonder if there was some deal on them to get more out on the road. I think they look quite good in a too-big sort of way.

We've been through this before - find out the excess mileage charge and do the sums. Some are only 6ppm + vat, such as many financed VW financial services.

You've got to keep the mileage in check though, otherwise you're just a pawn for the lease company and earning them extra money every mile you drive, and that would be a rook-ie mistake. Bishop.

Some deals work out cheaper to take a lower mileage and go over the allowed amount.

Is there a point at which it's better to suffer a small excess mileage charge rather than taking lease with more miles?

Maybe yes, maybe no.

You have to do the maths, it depends entirely on the deal and what the excess mileage rate is.

...but check the T&Cs carefully.

Some have a clause in them which states that if you exceed your stated annual miles by x% in the first x months then your vehicle could be repossessed.

I suspect this clause is to avoid the exact scenario being discussed; stating a very low annual mileage in the knowledge that paying the excess will still work out cheaper.

As stated, it depends on the deal.

My Dad's just took out a 15k MPA deal with the plan to do around 20-21, because it still worked out cheaper than the 20k MPA deal they offered.

bizarre really.

With some of the recent VWFS deals you are better of accepting the excess mileage charge whether you'll do an extra 500 or 50,000. Its just so much cheaper compared to adding the miles to the contract up front. Also means you're not at risk of paying for extra miles that you end up not using.

My ST3 was delivered on Wednesday but wasn't a stock vehicle so took just over 2 weeks for delivery. I did say I'd wait for a 15 plate which gave me time to sell my current car, being blue I'd be very surprised if they didn't find one in stock somewhere.

What was included in your 180 pm deal? I got mine for 190
