What excess mileage charge were you quoted?

£300 that's a hell of a lot of "admin" whatever that is.
Isn't it great when go you go into a shop to buy a telly they don't charge admin but buy a car and they do.

WTF?

All that matters is the final amount, ignore how it's marketed.

It'll probably be the only profit that the broker makes on the deal....

Anyone tried a Peugeot dealer to see if they can match the deal without the admin. I suspect not, but if I wasn't abroad I'd call one myself.

With 20k pa (30k in total) it's £197 on 3+18.

Incl admin that's £4500. So approx £1k more than 10k pa (15k total). Which works out at 6.6ppm incl vat.

Not saying that's the excess mileage charge, just that it's the difference between the two deals.

£4500 to cover 30k in a £19k car seems like a good deal. 30k would surely wipe off more than 24% of its value.

You don't expect the company to source you the car for nothing, do you? If so why not do it yourself? Companies have to make profit to survive, be it on the product or charging for their services. I think it was covered in business studies at primary school.

Wow these deals depress me! Australia has many advantages but leasing deals are not one of them.

I visited my local Peugeot dealer today with regards to the 208 gti. The lady there was astounded by the price and couldn't match it. Their best offer was around £1,500 down with £350 a month for 10k miles a year and maintenance. Oh, and that was on a 3 year deal, they said they couldn't do less that that.(!!)

Anyone rang up the brokers who are offering them so cheap and got a price on it with maintenance? I'm going to give them a call tomorrow - this deal is too good to say no, especially for just 18 months.

18 month deal = 1 service maybe 2 tyres. Pre-paid maintenance is unnecessary.

Obviously I was sleeping during that lesson.

Cheeky fecker!

I am sure that there is profit there through registration bonuses from suppliers, commission etc.
Why not be upfront and honest instead of tarting it up as an admin fee?

Oh yes it's cos mugs like you will happily pay it.

They are telling you exactly what their margin is. £300+ VAT. With a deal this cheap do you really expect there to be any money left in it? How much profit do you think there is in a car at this end of the market.

Brokers don't get registration bonuses.
Commission - possible, but highly unlikely in this case. In fact most deals are done with no commission at all. The broker fee/admin fee/whatever you want to call it is how they make their money.
You're just guessing how it works, and then using that guess to label them dishonest.

IMHO one massive positive for lease deals is the honesty with total costs.
Have a try at understanding total costs in PCP deals.

That is so true. Its been an eye opener to the real cost of motoring as every option has a monthly cost.
