Been reading this thread with interest - a number of mates have signed up singing the merits of leasing and how "cheap" it is.
I think the number one criteria is you want a brand new car. If you were going to buy new anyway, they make great sense. If you weren't, there are more cost effective ways of motoring.

Leasing works if you want to buy a brand new car on finance.I think the number one criteria is you want a brand new car. If you were going to buy new anyway, they make great sense. If you weren't, there are more cost effective ways of motoring.
In certain cases, leasing a new car is still cheaper than buying a 2/3 year old version of the same car on finance.
That's the value.
Golf R and many BMWs are cases in point.

Leasing is also worth bearing in mind if you are buying cash, as the subsidies from the manufacturers can sometimes outweigh the cash price. Please note this is not on all occasions , simply that it should not be dismissed as the work of the devil and should be looked at as part of your research in trying to achieve the best price.
