First time poster, longtime lurker looking for help.

Looking to pull the trigger on my first lease and I'm after a golf GTI, Leon Cupra 280 5dr or similar. Preference would be 3 upfront and 5k miles if excess mileage isn't too high (expect to do about 6,7k pa)

Smart lease are doing the cupra 280 3+23 5k at £262pm http://www.smartlease.co.uk/seat-leon-cupra-5-car-...

Also a 3+35 8k deal available same car at £254
http://www.whatcar.com/car-leasing/car-leasing/dea...

Can't find anything for a Golf GTI for similar money and don't want to wait 6 months.

Thoughts welcome
Some dude Mike.cottrill@contracthireacar.co.uk / 0161 431 1986 posted some Golf deals on the R forum the other day with December delivery.

Volkswagen Golf Diesel Hatchback 2.0 TDI GTD 5dr [NAV]
Tornado Red or Pure White
9+23,
8k MPA
£212.92Inc VAT

Volkswagen Golf Hatchback 2.0 TSI GTI 5dr [Nav]
Tornado Red Or Pure White
9+23
8k MPA
£218.98 Inc. VAT

Volkswagen Golf Hatchback 2.0 TSI R 5dr
Tornado Red or Pure White
9+23
8k MPA
£232.92 Inc. VAT

Cupra 280 3 x 23 = £6812
GTI 9 x 23 = £6976.

Might be worth a call?
Thanks, will give them a shout see what they can do. Not overly keen on putting up more than 3 payments initially though so that will swing it for me
Mike seems like a nice chap and these are the best prices I've found for the Golf R at the moment.
Mike is taking names and details, but no payments. This is because the stock isn't guaranteed.
If the terms / lead times change, he's letting people know and taking payments only when everything's known.

Not a deal but a question.
Can you put a private plate onto a leased car and does the plate become the property of the lease company when it's on the car and do they have to assign the plate back to yourself at the end of the term?

You can but the lease company will keep the v5. If you leave the plate on the car after lease term expires you'd lose the plate. Contact lease company couple of months before lease expires and they'll send you out the necessary form to remove the plate and put it on retention.

From memory you have to nominate the lease company on the paperwork as well. They'll handle it all for you, but will charge you a fee for doing so

On lingscars
Most cars can have private plates put on BEFORE delivery. In these cases I will need the retention certificate with the "nominee" made out to whichever finance company I use. You can usually change to a private plate AFTER delivery, too - but in this case the finance company may apply a small fee.

I just got a quote too, why would there be a reservation fee if they have the vehicle in stock?

any help clearing the mud would be great
Spoke to them just now to say forget it and they magically agreed to half the admin fee to £180 and also mention that the £250 deposit is refundable on delivery of the vehicle.

Just ordered...

If they do a similar one for a petrol I'd be keen on that myself
