Had Rainsport 2s on my 620ti for a year or two now. The Rainsport 3s on the MG ZS are even better!

I'm always after a bargain when it comes to tyres and wet weather performance and I tend to get through lots so read the reviews avidly.

Anyway, they don't do RS3 in my sizes but I looked at Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric on Tyreleader and they are very well priced, at least £100-200 cheaper per set, which is a LOT!

Anybody got anything to say about them?

I think the best way to find out would probably be a new thread asking that question. Hardly anyone who has them is likely to stumble across your question in this thread.

I used gy eagles a lot in the past and find they wear quite quickly but offer really good grip for a while. Wife's car currently is on rs3's (2nd set) and I like the grip (even been ok in the snow) and the wear rate is acceptable, plus they are significantly cheaper than most premium brands.

I've put over 100k on various sets of rainsports on the taxi this last year. Absolutely love them to bits for the money

Really bite well in the wet and inspire confidence although I really think I'll be giving a XL set a bash at some point as they can be a touch squirmy when fully laden(mk4.5 Mondeo estate)

excellent tyre put 4 on last august for the nct still going strong only swapped them round at the weekend, and the fronts were still just above the thread wear indicator and i roughly do 600 miles a week, excellent in the wet no aqua planing and good in dry road conditions, fab tyre all round, and to be honest i work for a large tyre manufacturer, not uniroyal!

Another positive vote for Rainsport3.

4 of them on my Soarer a while back. The Soarer is quite a tail happy beast, tamed somewhat by the Uniroyals

I am another fan of Uniroyals.

I had a Saab V6 in 2010 and it came with brand new continentals. Admittedly the car was overpowered with 280bhp in front wheel drive form and the Conti's lasted 10k.

I went to my local tyre place who I have used for years and he recommended Uniroyal's as great in the wet and much harder wearing than the premium brands especially as all the power was in the front end. He also bet me a tenner I wouldn't be back until 20k and he was right.

He had performance cars and said he put Uniroyal's on everything as the provide very good mileage on a full set.

6 months ago I put some on a CLS Grand Edition that I have just sold, they looked new after 8k.

My new S5 will be getting some too when I need new rubber. I wouldn't consider any others, they are that good.

Been using Rainsports (1, 2, and 3) for years now and they really are my go-to tyre when I need something affordable and decent. As everyone has said, wet weather grip is superb and the tyres punch well above their price point I think overall.

RS3's are really excellent and very well priced.

Put two Rain Sport 3's on the rear of mine replacing my Toyo Proxes T1 R's after doing some research.

From my research they beat the Toyo's in every area, the wear is about the only area they don't score greatly but even this is slightly higher than the Toyo's.

It was enough to convince me to try them out, only replaced about 7 weeks and 500 miles ago so a bit early to give a thumbs up or down.

I have been out in the wet briefly and felt quite confident,I have been thrown sideways before on a roundabout in the wet at 25mph just braking loose without hardly any throttle action.

I will put my opinion up again when covering more miles and more road circumstances.

Has anyone run these on an Elise?

I had them on the mx5 i used to have and they were superb, but thinking the sidewalls will be noticeably more squishy compared to the yoko ad07's i have currently.

Do need a more all round tyre though as 'trackday' tyres are quite scary in the rain n snow!

Have had Rainsport 2's all round until October last year. Now have RS3's on front and RS2's on rear until they expire. Fabulous grip in the wet. Hit a monster flood at speed recently and no aquaplaning or loss of control just dead straight through the lake!!
Will be RS3's on the rear when RS2's expire.
Been using Rainsport's for about 8 years now on my last three cars and they are ace and great value.

I ran these as a summer tyre last year on 18s. I'm upgrading to 19s for my summer wheels when my Nokian winters come off, therefore I'll have a couple of these from the fronts (light even wear, RWD car) with 5-6mm going spare in 245/40/18 if anyone wants them.

I'm tempted by these for my wife's car, it'll need new tyres before I put the summer wheels back on.

£109 each for 255/35/20s seems a bargain.

Those with concerns about sidewall flexing can specify XL Rainsport 3s. XL = Extra load IIRC.

fitted 4 245/45/ 18 to a 1999 Jaguar XJR....smooooooth quiet ride but not tested limits in the wet yet.....tho from all accounts here I shouldn't have to worry

stock size for the car is 255/40/18 so they are a bit taller.....but £440 fitted and balanced was a deal and I couldn't see the value in any others .....look great too
