I notice that there is a Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyre available.

Has anybody used them? Good, bad, indifferent?

Don't know but drove back from Southampton last night in torrential rain and the Uni Rain Experts on the Alfa were brilliant in the standing water.

Would be interested. I have rainsport2's which have proven to be tremendous in the wet.

I've driven on them, admittedly not against anything but they didn't seem too bad. Strong aquaplaning. In theory they've replaced the shortcomings of the Rainsport 2 so it should be a good all round tyre.

Had them on Subaru Legacy, awesome tyres, quiet and phenomenal grip in the wet. I had them when we had that torrential Summer of 2012.

ETA I was talking about the 2's.

Only on the back so far which replaced Pilot Supersport. Very good wet (obviously) and dry grip, low noise and 1/3 cheaper then the equavalent Pilot SS, so feel less guilty about spinning them up biggrin

Tread patterns are like the Verds tho, not handed so can look quite strange.

Not something that concerns me, I have to say.

They do in their other tyres. The Rainsport 3 appears to be being introduced fairly slowly.

RainSport 2 wasn't.

We get RainExpert. The rain tyre for your grans car.

Don't get me wrong, they're very good in the wet, but they are not a sports tyre. Mine are pretty much dead inside of 5000 miles, they just cannot handle abuse at all.

I got a cheap set for the winter wheels for the mx5. They have been brilliant so far but only put a few hundred miles on them.

Got RS2's on a 206 GTI and they're awesome in the wet.

In the dry they're ok but it took a good 500 miles for them to bed in, the car was almost dangerous to drive there was that much movement.

I'd definitely buy the 3's as I'm sure those issues wold be addressed.

I was seriously impressed with how my MX5 marched about on sheet ice with them last year.

One autotest nigh on destroyed them though, the flopped over onto the sidewalls and wore away the shoulder in no time at all. Grippy as you like, but soft as ste.

I bought a set Rainsport 3 225 45 17 from camskills and changed over last week. It's on an MPV, even my wife driving it in London can tell the difference compared to the Accelera Alpha with 5mm left. The Accelera were on the car before I bought it.

First thoughts,

1) Miraculously cured my offset steering. With the Accelera, strangely my entire steering wheel was offset to the right, I tried to alight it on a Hunter machine (all readings were green) but still steering wheel was offset to the right. (Fixed with RS3)
2) Accerlera were crashing over speed hump as thought my suspensions were all worn out, with RS3, the landing is a lot softer.
3) Safety, you can feel the car braking a lot sooner and sharper than with the Accelera Alpha. This is driving in London speed, best case 30 mph. I can imagine on a motorway emergency stop, the difference between the 2 tyres will be even greater. Also the tyres are only 1 week old so not even gone through 100 miles, so should only get better after scrubbing in.

Not done any hard cornering yet, but I had RS2 previously and now Goodyear Eagle AS2 on my other car. It is difficult to compare tyres on different cars, but on the weekend driving on the motorway in torrential rain the AS2 were amazing in the wet. I would think the RS3 is comparable, time will tell. So far i am extremely happy with the RS3. It's also i think £20ish cheaper than AS2, so if my mpg improves as well after next tank then I think RS3 is very good value for money.

My old proton came with new acceleras... i cant think of a bigger waste of money than.those ring shaped turds! Even after spending real sterling on a proton lol

Squeeled all over the place, wobbly handling, and infinate wheelspin in the wet.

They also wore down pretty damn quuckly.

Uugh hat hat hated em

Run slightly higher pressures maybe? I have another set of wheels with Toyo R1Rs. Unless it was pishing it down I'd use those for any track days etc.
