In answer to a few posts, yes I did watch it first, there is indeed much less evidence of multiple takes etc, though I do still think a few bits of that benefit from some clever editing. There are also no landmarks in many of the shots meaning they could easily have been redone with obstacles moved. If it was all one take then fair play, it's a good effort stringing that sequence together. I still don't think it's more impressive than watching a rally driver string together a complete stage of a rally, but that's just my humble opinion.

MGZRod - I agree with you that he is a good role model for kids etc.

Maybe I'm just viewing his stuff with an overly critical eye. It's only an opinion.

Good bloke and can't knock him. He's more successful and a better driver than 99.9% of people on here so good on him for enjoying himself.

I was bored in the second minute. I watched it all the way through because the comments on here said it was 'awesome'.

You lied.

Half the interesting thing about the original (and best) video was that it was in an uncontrolled environment (airfield) and not constructed from road traffic blocks and f*cking tetherballs. Whilst I appreciate there were probably many takes for the right angle, and that some of the aircraft / objects were placed deliberately for the quality of the footage the overall effect was substantially better.

I would have preferred it to be at a junk yard or in a multi-storey car park or similar. That way, despite knowing it's all rehersed stuff, it's still entertaining.

One thing I noticed compared to previous versions....

I always noticed dozens and dozens of tyre tracks on the circuit in previous ones and always felt a bit mugged off. Like it wasnt spontaneous, and he could mess it up a dozen times and they'd wait until it was right.

However, certainly at the start, the track was nice and clean and it felt less scripted.

I really don't get the obsession with tyre marks being visible and how many takes or clever edits may have been involved. These types of comments just make me think there's a few folk here who are over thinking the whole thing.

It's a couple of minutes of entertainment and advertising. Nothing more or less. It doesn't need a purists judgement.

As CEO of a footwear company, he's a bloody good driver and comparing him to the top rally drivers in the world is about as relevant as benchmarking their business successes against his IMO

What happens when you don't let Ken Block practice first? laugh

I personally think his car control is very impressive and definitely better than anything I can boast about, who cares if it takes a few attempts to get right. I enjoy his Gymkhana videos whether they are scripted, edited or whatever.

Oh good, ken c*ck is back to his messing around antics. With roads black from the tyre marks of all his practices and videos stitched together from a million takes and all to help sell some shoes and energy drink. Any rally driver could do this stuff, but most seem more interested in winning rallies than advertising shoes so tend not to. A look at kens rather lacklustre rally career demonstrates that rallying isn't as much of a forte for him as selling shoes.

I love a good car video but kens antics got boring after about the second one of his videos (possibly the one in the Fiesta that he slides onto the oval circuit hitting the concrete perimeter within about 30 seconds of it beginning - nice car control!). Think I might go and watch some classic WRC clips on YouTube and appreciate some proper driving!
What a miserable depressing unhappy post.

I've done a bit of digging and found your facebook profile pic, I know its against the rules but I'll post it up.

LOL! I can't deny it, that did make me laugh! Touche!

I'd say my original post was more an intentionally OTT and tongue in cheek one than miserable, depressing and unhappy....OK, well maybe I'll give you miserable.

I'm clearly in the minority not being a fan - fair enough, each to their own and all that. And maybe I'm even a hypocrite as I love the 'Tax the Rich' stuff?

I do want to know though why there seems to be the assumption that if you criticise something you must automatically think you could do better... I suspect everyone on here has at some point criticised one car or other and I suspect none of them could engineer one that would be better... Likewise, many have criticised the government, for example, but I suspect they couldn't do a better job running the country. Just a thought before it's decided that by criticising something you are saying you could do better. It need not be so.
