What colour is that? Is that a standard colour for the Evoque?
It'll never sell well in that colour, it blends into every background.

They seem to be everywhere on the roads in the UK. there must be some really good PCP or leasing deals on them.
Not that I am aware of. Finance PCP deals are very poor. Demand is just very high.

Having been a passenger in an Si4 with the 9-speed box, I didn't notice any unnecessary shuffling from the box. All very refined, but i'll admit to being distracted by the in-cabin (Meridian branded) trinkets at the time.

However, when I asked the driver to 'give it the beans', the acceleration wasn't anything to get excited about. SD4 is the engine of choice in my opinion.
Fully agree the Si4 hasn't got enough go to really recommend it over the higher spec diesel and as I have already said it doesnt sound very special. One thing that was superb though on the VB Evoque was the sound system. I've never come across a car with a system anywhere near as good. Though I would expect it to be good on a car that costs £80-90k in VB spec.

A wealthy neighbour if mine recently wandered into a RR showroom and ended up buying one of these in impulse when he saw the waiting lists for RR's and RR Sports.

It never occurred to him it would have a four pot diesel. Imagine his surprise when it was delivered and fired up.

Don't think he'll have it for too long.

It sounds as though the peppier diesel will be the better bet for performance and economy. I found the original Evoque to be very nice and easy to drive on an early test drive. For us two snags were the letterbox view through the rear view mirror and the limited boot space (my wife likes about six feet available with the seats folded flat). But for these issues we would have bought one. It is easy to see why it has been such a success if these are not issues that bother you.

I heard on the grapevine that Victoria Beckham (Head of Engineering @ JLR) insisted on the installation of the 9 speed ZF 'box as 9ine is going to be the name of her next child ...
If, say... ten years ago you told me Victoria Beckham would become Head of Engineering at JLR I'd have an easier time believing it than if you told me there would be a gearbox with 9 forward ratios

One of the very few new cars with a proper "want one" factor for me. Especially in red, with the big alloys - I think they look like a designer's first sketch of a hot hatch from 2020.

Might be a heart/head tradeoff between one of these and an M135i for my next company car...

The company has lost its way - they should have never started building such decadent yummymummy so called "luxury" vehicles, they've destroyed their heritage blah blah blah ...

I call total & complete bks, first the obvious.... he bought a car not realising he had spec'ed a diesel!? Either your telling porkies, or your wealthy neighbor is somewhat brain dead. Secondly, their diesels are whisper quiet, and that 4 pot diesel is one I happen to know very well. Loud & intrusive IT IS NOT!

The Evoque is not to my taste, and I really wish it wasn't the case! Interior, spec, brand, space...all class leading, but the overall look - not my cup of tea! frown
