What is crazy is the Porsche 918 is $845k and is hardly faster. The GTR is a bargain, get over it!
Starting to see why a time for the P1 will not be released ?
I'm sure the P1 is faster than the 918 - the stats suggest it has to be. But the GT-R does a great job of putting things into perspective.

4 WD, spot-on gearing, turbo grunt and great tyres do make the GT-R a giant killer though. It has been since 2008 when it first appeared.

No one has said it yet so i will.

The hybrid super duper cars wouldnt see which way a GTR went over TWO consecutive laps.
We all saw what happened to the 918s battery back.

What was the GTR's average speed around the Nurburgring?

Also, how far would it travel at that speed in 11 seconds?

Just curious.

If you call touching distance over 12 secs and it ran non road legal tyres and different aero. It is very yawn from my arm chair
The Nismo comes within 2% of the performance of a 918 on a single lap. It will be 100% faster on lap two, as it will actually finish said lap. It also cost roughly 10% of the price in dollars. It is an amazing achievement. What I find staggering is race companies with relatively unlimited budgets are not further ahead. That is the real shock here.

Aslong as it can finish the second lap ,should have enough fuel right ?.

Its an end game car , cant understand why it doesnt get the recognition .I have driven one and it didnt drive me round the track , did it flatter me ,well yes. However i was lucky enough to push it to my natural scary st zone on the experience ,all the car did was jiggle and hurt my neck from the loads.

This was a 09 car ,dread to think what the nismo is like .

There's something wrong with me. I REALLY want to have a go in one of these, but I have absolutely no desire to own one. Can't really decide why, there is no objective reason I can think of not to lust after a GT-R, but somehow I don't.
It might have something to do with the word Nissan.

A company that is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. A company that was involved in racing even before the Second World War, and a company that has been winning races and rallies in international competition since the 1960s.

People who have a hang-up about the name 'Nissan' ( "no heritage", "it's just a Datsun" etc ) are usually people who know next to nothing about Nissan.

I'd say a GT-R has an awful lot more character and charm than a 911 Turbo.

A terrific acheivement and one that we should applaud, as it raised the bar at this level and a put a rocket up the arse of Porsche, its direct rival.

Also, these cars look magnificent on the road and omnipotent, if that's possible. I love that and I love the unmistakably Japanese styling. It sets them apart.

Btw, it isn't flawless; by all accounts it is too firm a lot of the time for daily duties and probably not quite as good a GT car as the 991 Turbo/S, but it has character in spades.

I don't agree. Porsche is much more footballer than Nissan. Most chavvy type are too obsessed with brands to like a Nissan.

I think the GT-R has more geek appeal.

The GT-R is not chavvy if it is kept relatively standard looking. But it is geeky. Geeky and nerdy. And I like that.
yes Plenty of serious petrolheads run GT-Rs.

Porsche is definitely the more aspirational and 'common' marque for the new money set.

Yes, I have noticed that the GT-R is popular with the engineering and computer guys who work in motorsport for a living as well. I think they admire the tech involved in the car and value that aspect a lot more than a blingy brand.

I dont understand this chav phase , i am sorry but if a car is new there is nothing stopping the guy giving the thing death from cold knowing that the warranty will back him up.

Cant see the guy at the bottom end of the market doing such things knowing it will cost him , + if you go to buy a used car and dont like the condition it is in.Dont buy it
