RE: NISMO GT-R: Official

Stunning achievement imo.
No doubt people will exclaim it's just a Nissan, and that the price is far too high, which is ridiculous.
I think this 'it's just a Nissan' thing must be generational, I'm 25 both myself and my friends appreciate the GTR for what it is in itself, the badge on the bonnet means very little. However it seems those a bit older have more problems respecting a car for what it is and not where it came from.

was also thinking this, Skoda is another one older people have issues with.No doubt people will exclaim it's just a Nissan, and that the price is far too high, which is ridiculous.

4 wheel drive with a stack of short gears via a double clutch box, torque vectoring, slip control and a big-ass computer to control it all. The result is a car that is epic in its speed and makes the driver feel like a Hero.
Nissan did this in 2008. Years before anyone else. And they did it with a car that, frankly, is cheap ( at least in standard form it is ) .

Excepting the double clutch gearbox (had rear wheel steering instead) Nissan actually did this in 1989 with the affordable supercar the GTR. Oddly enough at that time that car had a 'Ring timewhich was only beaten by likes of full on supercars (at that point the XJ220 comes to mind). It was pretty affordable back then too. As another aside after the car has been out a while a Nismo special edition was released which had added lightness and an aeropackage.4 wheel drive with a stack of short gears via a double clutch box, torque vectoring, slip control and a big-ass computer to control it all. Of course this was all based on the template of the 959. I beleive that Porsche designed the double clutch gearbox too.
I really don't get the GTR haters. It's a superb car that performs as well as if not better than the best Porsche can offer for much lower price. If you want a badge and Porsche cache with everything associated with that (implied Quality etc) then get a Porsche. You don't need to deny a superb piece of engineering with true supercar slaying performance. Different strokes for different folks and if you are fortunate enough to be able to have either it's less of an emotive choice. I prefer the GTR for the reasons that are important to me that I personally think it does better on balance. Love all good cars though.

No denying its technically impressive and no doubt F'in fast. But then they go and claim a lap time that isn't for the car you can buy, unless you spec it up further if they bring out the additional upgrades.
Thats like me claiming my M3 CS is as fast as a CSL round the 'ring.
err, you can buy the car - but the laptime is with all the extra goodies. I dont see a problem with that? Thats like me claiming my M3 CS is as fast as a CSL round the 'ring.
Credit to them, you may not like the GTR, but nobody can deny the huge engineering achievement.
