What is your longest drive in a single sitting?

I have been having a chat with a couple of people who think I am a bit mental this evening, perhaps so.

in the last 6 weeks I have driven from Manchester to inverness and then returned the same day to Manchester and then 2 weeks back did Cheshire to Aberdeen, back down to Glasgow and then back to Cheshire.

I don't mind a long drive as long as I am comfortable have a few good cd's/ipod.

I drive from Ijmuiden to the far side of Czech Republic every now and then to visit in-laws; about 660 miles.

Takes roughly 10-11 hours allowing for a fuel/pee stop once I'm in Cz, but most of it is just plain boring autobahn.

Hello Harry Potter, hello Stephen Fry...

I've also done the same trip by motorbike; it took roughly the same length of time, despite stopping more times for fuel.

The same as the last 'longest drive' thread - Leeds to Saalbach via the Chunnel. Only stops were the chunnel transit and fuel.

It was a little biT tiring!

I did 768 miles from Czech to Uxbridge a couple of weeks ago, in a battered 2001 Berlingo hehe

We did the first 640 miles to Calais in 11 hours. Considering the rain in Dortmund and standing water around the Antwerp ring road I was pretty pleased with that! I did all the driving.

Had a couple of hours to wait at Calais then carried straight on to Uxbridge. Left at 1530 Friday afternoon, arrived at 0810 Saturday morning.

I'm doing the return leg on Sunday night... driving

Oh, and I did a 520 mile round trip on Sunday for fish & chips too...

I've done Girona (near barcelona) to south Birmingham in one straight slog on a bike (don't ask!). Clock rolled over back to zero as I pulled up on the drive. Not one I'd like to repeat!

Many years ago in a 1.4 escort I did just over a thousand miles in 24 hrs, North of Aberdeen to Carnoustie to pick up a pal and his daughter, there to Birmingham where we visited the National Motorcycle Museum, then to Nottingham to drop off his daughter at her mum's place, then to near Slough to pick up a bike engine, from there to Leeds to pick up a petrol tank, and up the east coast to Carnoustie to drop my pal off, I had intended to continue home but stopped there to sleep cause I was knackered.
It was a company car so my pal couldn't help with the driving.

I would NEVER attempt anything like that again.

Paris to Edinburgh via Romford some years back. I left Paris during Friday afternoon rush hour (heaving traffic) and made Romford around 11pm then headed up north and arrived around 10am after a few stops to grab some sleep.

Other than that I've done Brighton to Toulouse a couple of times. I love long car journeys. smile

Barcelona to Amsterdam was a toughie. But Roscoff to Gibraltar towing a boat through the night was an eye opener (and a closer at times)

Similar to you OP, did Inverness to Preston in one sitting. Was just over 6 hours IIRC. Didn't really mind, it's a nice drive until you're back at the M6.

Dijon to Edinburgh, 876 miles with a Calais to Dover ferry crossing in a Subaru 1.8GLF in 1990.
Indianapolis to Aurora Colorado, 1,118 miles in a Chrysler 300C in 1999.
Both were around 18 hours with stops, if I recall.

barcelona to arnhem, roughly 1500km. done it twice now, both equally boring in a transit van towing a trailer.

Robe in South Australia to Sunshine coast in Queensland. 28 hours due to a storm and 2200km. Worst Christmas ever but was really wanting to get home.

I regularly (3-4 times a year) do 1,004 miles in one day from our house in the Yorkshire Dales to the house in the South of France.

Every time it is a personal race against myself.
