I once saw a very good letter from the Chief wotsit a the Health and Safety Executive to Bloodhound saying what a jolly good idea the whole thing was and how much the HSE supported the project's aim to push the boundaries of what is possible, and to show that human achievement should not be limited by an overwhelming aversion to risk (or words to that effect).

Could someone on this thread help me out by either:
  • Pointing out the post/date when this was posted on the thread (if, indeed, it was...).
  • Sending or linking me a copy.
  • Definitively tell me no such letter exists and I'm obviously hallucinating.
Thanks in advance.

Sad news. Hopefully some of the bigger sponsors will pony up a bit more cash, and if they did a new funding drive a la XH558 as has been mentioned, I'm sure they could add a few million to the pot. I'll certainly chip in a bit more.

Sad news you say? My blood ran cold when I read the dread headline word "Rescheduled". Call me an enthusiast, an adherent, even a disciple, and I'll put my hand up. This is my first post anywhere on the subject of Bloodhound but I have been following the project since inception, (was it 2010? I've forgotten.) and virtually ever since it first featured on the internet. I can describe every public-domain detail of the construction, I have been to Hakskeen Pan to recce where to set up my vantage point. I've rebuilt my camper for a 2-week stay at the Pan. I've visited the tech centre at Avonmouth and spoken to the Bloodhound teams at shows in UK and SA and listened to Andy Green at the University of Cape Town, etc, etc. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to see YET AGAIN for the umpteenth time the word "RESCHEDULED". And this after the shockingly blasé announcement of the car's "world debut" in London, NOT Newquay, with no explanation whatsoever offered as to why it would not be making it's first runs in 2015.

Bloodhound needs a better PRO and bloody quick before even the sponsors become as frustrated as me! Or has that happened already?

You are more than welcome to have a go yourself.

Think of the team members, many of whom have been living off their savings for 6-8months now.

this may come as a surprise, but dong something that has never been done before can be quite difficult and expensive. this is a funding stream problem that in the long term will be easier to overcome than than the immense technical challenge the team appear to be well on the way to meeting. have a bit of patience man, if it was easy these people would not be doing it in the first place.

I have to say that I'm rather pleased about the delay, as I wouldn't of been able to see the 1000 mph run next year due to lack of money. Hopefully I'll be able to go in 2018 if I can get the time off work.

Richard probably needs to get over to China. They still seem to have a bit of cash.

After all they fund everything else happening in this country, so why not our World Record Attempt.

On a serious note, I do hope the money can be found.

For anyone a bit hard of thinking, go and search YouTube for the documentary on the previous land speed attempt to understand some of the monumental challenges faced by the team.

I'm sure they could have taken thrust 2, fiddled with the aero and smashed the current record, but that was never the intention. This attempt is as new and unknown as the original mach 1 record attempt.

If the project needs to be delayed to find another £20m then there's a bloody good reason for it. Chances are when the record is broken it'll be generations before its broken again, that has to be worth a short wait

Indeed. I can't see anyone else attempting to beat this for a very, very long time.

I think everyone understands why more funding is needed, but what I dont understand is why it hasn't got a campaign of some sort running to help with donations

I feel for the whole team of course but of all those stalwarts who have given their utmost to see the project thus far, the very last person I would wish to criticise is you Insight. I hope I have not given offence. If it had not been for your reports on this forum a whole army of enthusiasts would have been in the dark for years on this allegedly "transparent" project. I'm sure I speak for all the forum's followers when I say I am deeply grateful for your invaluable contribution and I hope the upper management team recognise it as such too.

As for having a go myself, alas, I'm too old, too far away and too preoccupied with my own cashflow to take on Bloodhounds!

I can be patient for a while longer, it will come to pass eventually but I might be dead by then!

Ok, so PH raised bazzillions for the helicopter ambulance service when Hammond got hurt. What's more PH than SSC? Lets get something set up.

This.. get it started on Kickstarter or such.

I'd be willing to toss £10 -20 in or so to help.

Could even have guided tours for a price round the factory (family days out?) for a price and only on certain days to not slow the build too much.

Big contributors could get to sign a panel and have it laminated to the side of the car perhaps?

yes

A World Record attempt is a much better thing to raise money for than an annoying tv tt getting hurt.

I don't think it'd be kickstarter as thats for start ups isn't it? How about gofundme?

If anyone choses to set up a gofundme account for this be aware that it can be a nightmare banking wise!
When you set it up you have to provide your personal bank details, and as soon as donations start coming in it triggers a 7 day rolling deposit system run by Stripe.
So what is donated on day 1 will appear in your account on day 8, donations from day 2 appear on day 9 etc.
There is no way around this!
I did a campaign that ended up raising over £20k and was hugely successful, but it caused utter chaos to my bank account!

Er, the Bloodhound bank account is empty. So I'm waiting for the massive PR exercise to kick off, to top it up. Seems awfully quiet though!! How about that new TG chappie for a start?
