I prefer this sound: https://twitter.com/SiobhanSpiers/status/566192839...Testing has been ongoing at Newquay, but the number as good, very good. It would appear to have been a catastrophic success.
The pressures & flow rates are at 10% over our year two requirements, to say I'm over the bloody moon is a mild understatement, it's a massive weight off my shoulders & huge testament to all involved in the design/procurement & build.

Great news but how far does the water go when pointing straight up!?
I'd love to know that too.ETA....
I've asked the team in Newquay the question, head of systems says I'm a tw@t, but then added "doesn't mean we won't try it though".........

The outer skins then have some sacrificial plies over them that can are non structural to allow for abrasion damage.
Hm. Interesting. Is the air intake designed in such a way as to cope with ingesting bits of carbon and stuff* that have abraded?*eg. pebbles/ rocks? Actually, are you expecting anything from the ground to get up into the intake?

TBH nothing should get up that high, but allegedly if the EJ200 ingests a small flock of birds on takeoff the pilot is just told to "go fly around in the clouds" to clean it out. It's a tough old powerplant.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
