My office is next to the "Education centre" in Bristol (or at least a building badged as such)
What's going on in there Insight... anything at all or is it all mothballed awaiting cash?

Exactly that.....although the real car MAY be a GFOS this year, hopefully some good news very soon.

Hope something happens, was really quite excited to be next door, thinking of random ruses to "drop in" but alas it's been shut up since I got here!

Indeed, but it's news to me that we are using a monopropellant in year one.......

I noticed that in the article. I understand the perceived safety factor in using the Jag engine as the rocket pump (throttleable), but would it not be easier to use a pressurized monopropellant system instead? or would there not be enough room in the vehicle for the required fuel and pressure vessels? I assume a monopropellant would require more liquid fuel to get to the thrust numbers needed verses a hybrid....yes/no?

Anyway, congrats on the funding!

Presumably the reason for bringing in the monoprop rocket for Y1 is down to the extra time available now funding has been secured?

Not sure when the runs are supposed to be taking place, but 9 months waiting for funding since the dry build can fudge schedules like that.

Correct, insufficient room for the volume of Nitrogen required, add to that the thought of a large, 1000psi pressure vessel.......

We were there on Sunday. The jag engine is a compromise as they got it for free, plus sponsorship from Jaguar.

The pump on the back is a custom built...

Good to meet you again today in51ght, offer of a 'flight' stands when you're next in Crawley.

Nipper smashed the sim. Not in terms of outright speed, but in ability to completely stuff it. He's got 8 years to sort his st out before I disown him after he fails his test.

New rotors?

It was the bearings that caused us some minor inconvenience.

Oh sorry, just the bearings? Then I don't know where I got the idea but I thought those beautiful impellors got trashed when the bearings failed. I'm delighted to be corrected.

Strange that there's no mention of the new funding on the Bloodhound SSC website yet.
