So then, who'd like some rather lovely cufflinks, made from the actual billets that the wheels themselves are made from. They come in a presentation box, with a teeny tiny copy of the wheel drawing in the lid and another copy, signed by Andy Wainwright (the machinist who made them).

Would make a great xmas pressie to yourself (or somebody else).

Only 100 sets of these being made, and just 10 sets left.

A bargain at just £50 + P&P

Random question, but what material are these?

Any ideas when the plan is to get it on the salt lake and run it?

I might have totally missed the boat on this, but wasn't it due to run on a runway in the UK first? Did this happen?

As with projects like this, setting dates is a pointless task. They really can't afford to cut corners just to meet a date. Effectively it'll take as long as it takes.

So 1.7 then...now it will go up but much slower. That seems more reasonable.
What about if it is on a conveyor belt?

2.5 or 0.6 depending on which way the conveyor is going.

Aren't they going to run at Newquay later this year, then SA in autumn too get the record, then back to SA for 1000mph for next year?

I remember asking ages ago what the chances of them running at Newquay in August would be as I will be down there then, was told they should have been and gone by then

The extra drag from the wheel bearings will be massive!

OK, long time since an update, but we will be running in the UK later this year, as ever we are having to b careful with where we spend the cash to maximise value for money.

We are having an "open doors" event on Sunday 5th March, which for the first time os open to people outside of the Bloodhound 1K supporters club.

There will be the chance to meet the team behind the car, see the car in build and there will also be an auction of all sort of interesting stuff from around the project, including superceeded car parts'

Is there a date when Bloodhound will be doing test runs at Newquay Aiport? I ask as I'll be booking my holidays until November this week, and I want to make sure I have that week off, as I'd like to come and watch the test runs. I haven't been able to come and see the car on the various days 1K Club members have been able to, as I work weekends.

Too soon to say at this point, sorry.

We are 100% concentrated on the runway car currently & will have a better idea in a month or so.

Bloodhound record bid slips again

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-3937...

The British-led effort to break the World Land Speed Record is going to slip again - to 2018.
The Bloodhound Super-Sonic Car was supposed to go racing later this year, to try to raise the current mark of 763mph (1,228km/h) to over 800mph.
But what are described as "short-term cash flow problems" have put a dent in the schedule.
The upside, says the team, is that it provides additional time to eke more power from the car's rocket.
Engineers want some extra thrust margin just in case the final build of the vehicle turns out to be heavier than expected.
"It's frustrating, I know; and the team are disappointed but we're resilient and we're going to make this happen," Bloodhound director Richard Noble told BBC News.
"The money is coming in but it doesn't always match our planning and fit with the times when we need it."

Still don't understand how they are expecting to produce 40-45kN in monopropellant mode. The rockets are currently producing c. 30kN thrust whilst burning fuel. Surely something less than that would be expected without the fuel? Only thing that I can think of is that they are going to be pumping st loads of peroxide to achieve this.

Any rocket scientists around here?

Why no public campaign for funds similar to the Vulcan had?

OK then. Delayed again, WTF is it this time? I had the impression that the Geely sponsorship had pretty much eliminated the "cash flow problem", so is there more to this than cash I wonder? Could there be a clue in the "more time to eke more power from the rocket" quote, which Zirconium mentions earlier? Anybody enlighten us?
