I'm all excited today, just found out that the mock-up model (full size I think) and education programme will be visiting our school next month for a week! Properly excited for that even if it is only a model.

Hopefully everyone else will be as equally impressed with the project.

Some more pornography for you.

AMAD mounting plate, this is the part that mounts the EJ200 AMAD gearbox into the car.

Fin shear plate, 2m long. It's the interface between the upper chassis & the tail fin, will be anodised & primed to aid bonding, started as an 800kg billet, part weight is 7.8kg!!!!yikes

Yep, one of the downfalls of making a one off. If we were in a production run we'd look into near-net forgings,

Now that would be awesome. A production run of SSC cars.

The M25 would be a much more interesting place.

And no sooner has it arrived, it's on the car. The safest place to store it due to the delacay of the thin wall (2mm in places)

(Breathes a sigh of relief, that despite the outward confidence that it'll be fine, there's always the possibility I've missed something daft, result would be a £30,000 piece of scrap & a 12 week delay in build!!!!

Marking up to trim the stringer end profile.

It's one of the beauties of being an education project, we have no secrets so can share the excitement openly.

Is there any communication with your American 'competitors' - is the 'ultra fast' scene friendly or are they a bit sniffy towards the bloodhound team?

Quite apart from anything else, i would imagine your openness is distinctly unsettling for them, they can't harbour any delusions regarding the quality and thoroughness of your engineering, they can see what is going to be necessary in order to go faster and i would think that would put them off a little.

There is a landspeed racing page on facefart, which I post on, one character in particular criticises every aspect of the project. Maybe they are worried.

presumably you are on about 'Franklin Rice Ratliff' - is he, or was he ever part of a serious land speed attempt or is he just a walking talking opinion.....

He's involved in the Silver Bullet RV, who in my opinion have started about 5 years too late.
