I love this thread, thanks for taking the time to post. It's automotive and engineering porn. cloud9

I really hope I get the chance to come down and work with you guys when I'm back in the UK after my current OP tour.

No, we can squeeze the correct ratios for the proposed new engine into it thankfully

Is there a replacement for that V8 yet?
Yes, hopefully negotiations have secured another V8, should be able to confirm fairly soon.

What is the required specification for that V8 engine?

I know you were planning a Cosworth V8 F1 engine. I assume it was a weight-to-power ratio (I chose to put it that way round) so what about an old style 4cyl turbo engine from the early 80's.

How important is the weight element over the power/torque?

Ah, right I was vaguely under the impression you were using a different rocket that wouldn't need the pump now as a result of the cosworth thing falling through.

Thankfully, the parts fitted first time, not that it should come as a surprise!!!

That's where the lines/wiring that run from to rear go.

They exit through that hole in the lower face.

This is probably a silly question but something I wondered anyway- will it be possible to drive Bloodhound at slow speed, i.e what is it's minimum "taxi" speed? And how tight is the turning circle? For example would it be possible to do a lap of say Rockingham or Millbrook in it?

Walking pace, limited only by thrust at light idle on the EJ200. Turning rad is IRO 125metres.

I bet doing the 'tollerance stack' to ensure those two massive angled bolt holes line up between those 3 parts was fun.......... ;-)

Easy, still need to fit the pin to see if they actually line up though!!

Stunning, the engineering work and machining etc. on that car is mind blowing - I have only ever seen anything like it on Hawk/Typhoon production lines (I guess it is being built to aircraft tolerances and finishes given the speed it will be travelling at), its a credit to all involved.

On the track based demo idea I wonder if you'd be able to take it down the track at Santa Pod (not full bore obviously, just enough to make some noise as its not designed to be a jet dragster) but more of a "Look it drives" Demo. I don't know if a prepped racing surface would agree with the solid aliuminum wheels though.

We are doing precisely that as a shakedown in Newquay on wheels designed to take lightning tyres, hang on, I'll go take a pic.

There are runway wheels too, with rubber on.

Here you go

If you look in the background there's Andy, sitting in the cockpit doing some filming for a forthcoming article.
