Forgive my ignorance, but why mockup?
Presumably it won't run in mockup stages, and whilst I understand there are challenges once you actually move to physical instead of virtual, but once built isn't she ready to go? Why disassemble only to reassemble again - anything happen in between?

Mark, Can you tell us what the replacement engine Is, To replace the Cosworth V8?
Erm, not really, sorry, the contract has been signed by us & all bar one of the directors of the sponsor (he's abroad on business).Suffice to say we've been doing to tests on control systems of the new APU engine & a full chat it sounds quite fruity.

i assume the duck tape and drain pipe isn't a structural part
No, we'll pop round to screwfix & get some solvent weld adhesive once we've finished mocking up.Sway said:

It's quite common to mock assemblies up to make sure everything fits ok, before surface treatment(s) are done. Used to work at Astrium on satellites. You only make one, so it goes together and is taken apart many many times.Presumably it won't run in mockup stages, and whilst I understand there are challenges once you actually move to physical instead of virtual, but once built isn't she ready to go? Was pleased to have a special visitor today in the shape of Peter Taylor from the Aussie Invader 5R team, great to spend a couple of hours chewing the fat.

The jet engine met with the car for the first time early yesterday evening.
Nothing to report, everything had sufficient clearance & no fouls. The upper chassis ribs will be dry assembled over the next few days to check there are no clashes before the chassis is finally bonded/riveted together. This also gives us a chance to mock up pipe runs, cable runs, cooling ducts & heat shields without the titanium skins getting in the way.
