How.much does that EJ weigh?

Also, what kind if pressure are you expecting to see it the intake?
Around 1100kg, intake pressure up to around 30psi if the engine surges

We have a film crew in today doing some documentary stuff. I was talking to Roland our head of stress about the interface between the EJ200 piston ring & it's corresponding sealing ring housing & managed to get the phrase "ring piece" into the conversation 5 times & "split ring piece" once

Titter!

Lovely to see, the EJ is a lot like looking out my window into the workshop, difference is, your one is very new, shiny and powerful.

Our ones are much older and aren't designed to go fast. Great to see so much similarities between the old Avons and Olympus smile

Oh did you go to the KNEX build of the bloodhound I saw something briefly on FB while on holiday and wondered if the team was involved?

I wanted to but I simply do not have to spare time.

I'll bet you were cacking yourself when the engine was lowering into position, praying that you hadn't made a miscalculation somewhere along the line and the engine clashed with the lower housing.

or was that simply not going to happen?

It's almost impossible with CAD to make such errors. Parametric CAD modeling actually 'prevent' parts from occupying the same space.

Almost impossible yes, not totally impossible. You have to remember the RR CAD models are not exactly as per the engine either.

that was kinda what i was getting at, i presumed it was vanishingly unlikely for there to be a gross mistake, but i'm not sure what 'fidelity' these cad models go to. With all the little pipes and fasteners on a jet engine the possibility for unacceptably close tolerances was presumably still present.

Glad it fits, either way thumbup

we've got onto starting to fit the upper chassis ribs. The clingfilm is to protect the primed bonding surfaces.

To be honest, if given the chance i'd have no issue in driving it.

Knowing engineering, its probably called microporous conformal autoadhesive nanofilm sheet or something. If it says NASA on the packet it is $20 per square cm, but if it says Aldi then its £1:75 a roll. hehe
