193 was another one, hence at one time, Mercedes, Audi and BMWs 2.8 litre sixes all produced exactly the same 193PS, as did Merc's 2.3 Kompressor, yet with different peak torque/rpm figures which doesn't necessarily add up. Given the additional capacity and feel of the 2.8 in the 328i over the preceding 192PS 325i, it's certainly more than 1hp. Most tend to be 205-210 when dyno'd.
W210 E430 was there at 286 too IIRC.
Never picked up on the 193 figure before but yes, you're right, that did crop up a few times in German cars. I think when Merc swapped the C230 motor from a 2.3L to a 1.8L it still maintained the 193PS rating tooW210 E430 was there at 286 too IIRC.

Driven an Audi R8 V10 Plus with 510PS , was rather brisk.
