Vauxhall soft touch indicator and stalk controls. I've got used to them now but what's wrong with conventional stalks? Just messing about for messing about sake.

No temperature gauge. Apparently just a warning light that will come on when its too late. I know modern cars don't overheat as much as they did years ago, but still nice to have the warning that something might be amiss.

Door pockets not exactly wide enough to hold anything.

Used to have a 1990 Fiesta a few years back. Stereo was mounted low in the centre console. You couldn't eject a cassette (remember them?!) if in fifth gear as it just wedged against the gearknob. You had to change to fourth if you wanted to take the tape out.

HSV - That the TV goes off at 3kmph.
Hilux - It's not got the centre diff like my old one (allowing rwd <-> 4wd changes at speed and on tarmac).

I have the opposite annoyance with the Fiat 500, as it is my girlfriend's car, she gets the proper key with the remote, I get the crappy second key, which means I have to unlock the car at the drivers door, before opening the boot. Or every winter, when the microswitch on the boot handle gets damp I can't get into the boot at all.
The problem here is Fiat giving us one proper key and one that looks like it came with an Ikea filing cabinet. I have the same issue with my wife's Punto although my Mk 1 came with three keys.

Passat - it was too much effort to wire the door mirror heaters into the rear screen heater circuit, so you need to set the mirror adjust switch to a 'defrost' position, which then means you forget it's in that position and run round with the heaters on all the time.
I was under the impression that they only worked when the rear window demister was on.
In which case it's even more baffling.

My old mk4 R32 Golf had a lovely looking dash but when you used the middle cupholder (which gently moved out when needed) it completely blocked all the stereo controls.

It also had a dash mounted six CD changer; I always used to wonder how the CDs fitted in; where did they go?!

Stupid plug in the dash key fob things. I don't mind not having a key but why are they on the left of the steering wheel? It's over two years now and I still get in the car every time with the keys in my right hand!!!

PSM (Porsche Stability Management, or Please Save Me depending on your point of view). It's a button that disables traction control. Which would be fine if it actually disabled it fully. But that's not too much of an issue as it only re-engages itself if you trigger ABS. No my issue with it is when you turn it off you get a little yellow light on the button telling you it's off. No probs there, then a message on dash warning you you've switched off PSM. Again, that goes away. But finally you get a bright yellow warning light in the middle of the rev counter that doesn't go away.

They REALLY don't want you turning TC off in the car. It's almost like Porsche saying, look you could die at any moment now and it's not our fault. We we warned you then warned you again, then have left this really annoying light on the rev counter just so you don't forget just how much of a risk you are taking by trusting the driving of this car down to yourself rather than our software engineers.

I hate that f**king light.

The MX5 has that, personally I think it's witchcraft...

Mazda 2 sport - automatic wipers because apparently they are better over the standard intermitent ones.... Like fk they are! Bloody things never come on when I want them so am forced to use the slowest constant which is ridiculously fast.

Digital fuel gauge - whatever halfwit designed it was a bloody moron, its divided into 6 bars and will lose one immidiately after pulling out of the petrol station. It also flashes empty when there is 11 litres left in the tank (1/4 capacity...)

Previous car

Mitsubishi colt - gear knob would come off in my hand when I changed gear leaving just a metal stalk. Great fun on the motorway trying to fiddle it back on....

In Drive mode, it pulls away in second rather than first - you can hear the clutch wearing out!

Mine keeps making all its petrol disappear. I keep putting in £85 or so of fuel and 250 miles later it's all vanished somewhere. Damn thing, apart from that it's lovely cloud9.

It also took me a month to work out how to make the interior lights come on when opening the door, and then only by accident. The manual had nothing to say on the subject and I assumed it must be impossible frown.

The slightly sticky throttle. It's ok for the most part, but the initial off-to-on is stiff. I dont know if its the cable or the throttle body or both or something else.

Ooh, the fact that it I open the rear doors and then let go, they will, often before reaching the end of their travel, spring back and close with enough force to shut completely. Interesting when putting a jacket or such across the back seats...

Fiat 500 Twin Air. The boot release button on the key is so easy to press accidentally and it's on a hair trigger. I'm forever having to jump out of the car to slam the boot shut.

I have similar with Mrs Blib's SEAT Ibiza. The spare key only unlocks the driver's door. I have to put the key in the ignition and turn it on before I can open the other doors and boot with the console button.

BMW key holder should solve that for you and nicer thing to keep in your pocket.

The stereo/CD player is the most annoying thing on mine. Specifically, the automatic volume adjustment.
I tend to drive around town with the volume switch on 7 if I'm listening to the radio. The radio doesn't seem to change volume based on speed, but the CDs do. But with CDs it's awful. There's no point at over 30 miles per hour where one volume setting isn't too high and another too low, and it drives me absolutely potty that I can't find any single way to turn the damn thing off.

The problem with my radio is that when it powers on it starts playing whatever station it's tuned into right away, but it takes a few seconds for the softkey display to come up. This means, for example, when I get into the car on Sunday morning to go for the papers and the radio's been left on Radio 2, there's a good chance I'm going to be subjected to a few seconds of Steve Wright's Love Songs. Or, when going to work, it's Chris Evans' Morning Show. This generally puts me in a bad mood for the rest of the day (no different from usual says Mrs H).
