RE: Toyota MR2: PH Carpool
Discussion
Cracking little car. Had one for two years (2005-2007). Did a touring holiday to south of France with my girlfriend. Took the spacesaver out for a bottle of tyre weld, fitted a luggage rack to the rear boot and we even had room for some duty free on the way back.
Was my first RWD after years of warm hatches, tenacious grip but once it goes it's over pretty quickly. Straight line speed is not tremednous (i ended up trading in for an S2000 which I prefered) but as an everyday useable sportscar it's hard to be beat - mine was a daily driver in all seasons over a 40mile commute.
Precat failure was the main concern when I had mine so I swapped out the stock exhaust header for a TRD item.
If in need of more power either Turbo (TTE did a "factory" unit) or upgradr to the 170bhp engine - tuning the stock engine was pretty fruitless - I added sports exhaust, header, induction and remapped chip (total £2k) and went from 138bhp to 148bhp
