other than all the suggestions above, also just try wiggling other items under the car, like the exhaust etc, might be that something has been disturbed

This isn't a helpful comment I know, but []ihow much[/i] has your wife sunk into it? £30k? Surely a typo?

Oli.
haha!

She'd be on her way if we'd sunk £30k into a StreetKa Oli. She's covered 30k miles in the last 18 months in it, not spent 30k in the last 18 months on it. smile

This would be a very different thread, probably in the Lounge if that were the case!

The car to be fair to it has been pretty reliable, it was bought for £1,995 on a 55 plate with 39k on it, and it's sat at about 68k now. In that time it's only required a door handle, servicing and wheels thanks to our potholed roads. This year due to the roads and the mileage I've been refreshing the suspension, so it's pretty much all been replaced now.
Apologies - the mistake was mine! I read your original post as saying she had sunk £30k into it, not that she had done 30k miles in it!

My stupidity, which is why I deleted my post! smile

No worries at all mate, brightened up my morning! It could always be worse, I'm glad it was 30,000 miles!

Have you checked the engine mounts? I had a bloody annoying knock on an old Vectra, chucked loads of money at it and it still wouldn't shut up. Found out a couple of years after I served it on that it was a defective engine mount.

I have traced random suspension knocks on various cars to worn door hinges, early Fiestas were particularly prone to this and I have seen it more recently on a Frontera. May be worth checking hinges just to eliminate them.
