RE: PH 2013: Shed of the year
Discussion
The old Audi 80 quattro avant in 2.6 guise are like hens teeth, plenty of FWD ones but the quattros were few and far between. Still good shed, infact they have been shed money for ages which does make me wonder, a lot of old germans in there... in a decades time what will feature in SOTW? Will we all be running hybrid/EVs and big petrol cars will be cheap as chips? I hope so, then loads of V8s!

Always pay shed a lot of attention as, mainly, it's the only place on here where I can actually afford a car! Always thought the 9-5 Aero was a good, discreet shed. Will be looking in throughout 2014...
Great car the Aero Wagon. I bought one in October. Great Q car. Comfy, every gadget and very fast. slash79 said:

Great car the Aero Wagon. I bought one in October. Great Q car. Comfy, every gadget and very fast. Shed of the week has tended to be my favourite thread on PH - I ended my lurking years and joined in order to comment on it. I have lost interest slightly though, this year. Too many hot hatches and silver Audis. I'm very much in the minority, looking at the PH-ometer score.
Part of me wonders whether this has little to do with the SOTW thread itself. Maybe my interest has waned because time has moved cars which don't interest me so much into shed territory - or whether £1,000 doesn't buy as much as it did. It may be the former; the "best Smoker barge for 1-5 large" thread raises the money stakes, but has little of the variety seen on SOTW. It quite like the Smoker barge thread and read it regularly, but it should really be called the "Older Mercedes or BMW appreciation thread", because that's what it is!

It does tend to slip in to a W124/E39/E38 wkathon, unfortunately. Part of me wonders whether this has little to do with the SOTW thread itself. To be fair... the clue is in the title.... best Smoker Barge.... apart from BMW, Merc, Jag, Lexus - who actually makes any barge's any longer?
Few and far between and with the increase of ropey electrics (7 series from 2003 onwards springs to mind)... dubious coil packs etc (Audi A8 2003 onwards).... its only fools like me that are prepared to put up with the potential high cost of replacement parts/crap fuel economy etc....
