It's a 1.2T replacing the old 1.6 engine. The Ford 1.0 engine is the 1.0T which replaces the 1.6 and can already be had in the Fiesta and Focus. The engines aren't as low powered as they sound when you just state the cylinder capacity. Modern engines are more and more about getting the most power out of the smallest cylinder capacity with turbos and superchargers.
Yes a quart out of a pint pot Instead of a low power it will be a tiny engine flat out
Yes good for long life esp the way people have been educated to maintain there cars by

If it has a turbo that does not really count.

Was the 1.3 serria available as an estate?

I suppose you could get the Citroen BX as a 1.4 estate.

No, hatch only.

Just like the 1.3 Montego was saloon only.

I had the misfortune of having an escort van a few years ago. It said 55 on the side and i was praying it was something to do with the load space.

A 1.8 N/A diesel with less than 60bhp and 400kg of tools and equipment in the back.

Theres a big hill on the M8 around Livingston and if i didnt get a decent build up id be down into 3rd gear.

Never mind a 1.6 Vectra how about the 90s 1.4 Cavalier a mate had. It was the last model before becoming a Vectra so a Mark 3 I think? Truly awful thing with no redeeming features.

Not that long ago I had an E36 318i Touring. It wasn't that bad TBH but the space between the front of the engine and the radiator was quite comical, I'm sure I could have stood in the gap.

Always thought the most popular engine for the new 5 series being a 2 litre diesel seemed an odd, pure-size, combination!

Nissan Serena had a 2.3 diesel but took almost 30secs to 60mph!

Moving from small performance to small engines a 1.4 was available in 90s Cavaliers and 405s.

Going further back the Escort and 309 were both available with 1.1 engines.

Left enough room for a proper engine, though...

2286cc Land Rover diesel 62hp fitted to two-tonnes of LTI FX4 through a 3-speed autobox. That's 31hp per ton.

The Standard Atlas pictured above must be worse though?

I know you can get about 80mph out of the LTI Fairway on the flat. Going up a hill though, flat out can be 5mph. The Fairway had a 2.5 litre nissan engine. Much more powerful than the Land Rover 2.3. Same body, must have been very very very very slow.

Misleading photo. It's not going fast.

1.7 v4 in the mk1 transit.
To be fair, there wasn't a great deal of spare space under the bonnet, but oh the power. 45 mph flat out in second on the M25 going up Reigate hill.

I believe the Greek/Cypriot market got a 1.1 Capri. Low Compression at that, for their ste fuel.
