If any of you can get to Mercedes benz world next week, Conti are letting you test winter tyres for free:

More heavy snow and the Cross Climate shod Yeti trundles about everywhere without even a suggestion of struggling.

And some video of taking the long route out of a carpark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc7EloJ9DI0&fe...

Switched from an AWD saloon with winter tyres to a RWD saloon with summer tyres. I guess I need to invest in winters for it next season as the summers spin up at the drop of a hat.

Yet as I'm writing this it's snowing in the Dales, Northern Pennines, around Kielder, Border country, Stirling, Perthshire.

Number of people have accused you of trolling, tbh can see their point of view at times.

Cue protests and denials, which no longer wash.

Great, but i don't live in any of those areas, as much as I'd like a bit of snow.

First of ride of the year on the bike for me!

I have winter Tyre sets for both our cars, have not yet fitted them ( bit lazy) this winter and the temps in my area have hardly been below 7 Degs.
I will swap over if we get a cold spell as the grip & stopping distances are greatly improved even in the wet, versus normal all weather or summer Tyres.
I do thoroughly recommend Winter T`s, see the many tests & reports.
I have 4 old tungsten tipped studded Tyres in the garage but have not been allowed to use them since the drive back from Norway.

Yep, if you look at his posting history he makes one or two posts in most other threads yet in the last 30 days has made 42 posts in this thread just to keep telling us that HE feels that winter tyres are not for HIM or to mock the use of winter tyres as above.

So yes, troll pretty much covers it.

I'll just stick with my All-Season winter rated tyres as I have done for a number of years. I do love the look on peoples faces when I go up hills past them as they sit spinning away. biggrin

Jeez, there are a lot of people taking them selves far too seriously. Apart from the it's almost Spring comment, which was said in jest, how have I mocked any ones use of winter tyres?

Winters have been the optimum tyre in SE England in the past few weeks. They're really great, even further into northern France, they've been great for the climate and the conditions when commuting there. They remove a decent layer of uncertainty, particularly on a decently pokey RWD car with an open diff. I'd have survived on summers but I can't see any downfalls to winters. I also got to use the work's pool new X5 on summers which wasn't as sorted.

Same up in the highlands, we have had snow the last few days still.

This was when I got home, over the A9 as I drove had snow settling and cars slowing to a crawl. I felt fine on my winters.

Or potentially fitted some cross climates and joined in the circlejerk on the winter tyre volume 2 thread.

That reminds me...I'll have to go and poke that hornets nest shortly!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who spotted that post on the Michelin PSS thread! Definitely investing in winters next time round. I guess I have plenty of time to find a set of 18" wheels that clear the brakes on the ISF and mount some suitable rubber to them.

Swapped back to summer tyres today. Overall I've been very impressed with the Nokians. They've been very good in the wet and I wouldn't have got to work and back a fortnight ago when it snowed.

Nokian Weatherproof SUV performing well in the various bouts of weather we've been having. Banging it down with white stuff again, Kielder, and at home too by all accounts.

tongue outhehe
