So like in 'Life on Mars' you go back in time, but in your

I was there, and managed well enough with out all the modern stuff.
But would you like to go back? Now as you are?But I wish I'd have been born 20 years earlier, and be dead by now. I much prefered the 60's 70's and 80's than anything since.
My Hyundai Coupe wouldn't work but I could sell it to Pininfarina so they could use it to base a new design for Ferrari on (on the understanding I get a free one), as I manage projects I'm sure I could find something constructive to do, plus the added benefit of not having to use Microsoft Project to do it.
The main problem with taking a modern car back to the 60s (apart from fuel) would be it managing to survive for more than 1 day.
Due to modern brakes being vastly superior, the first time you came to a halt in a time that we now consider normal, you would end up with a period car careering into the back of you.
Also, the acceleration speeds of period cars being so poor, being in traffic would be incredibly frustrating.
What would you do when the battery ran out in your key fob?
Would a modern car fit in a 1960s carpark space I wonder?

I thought leaded would work in cars, it would just trash the catalyst?
I think everything would get gummed/coked up.Binning cat and lambda sensor -> runs in open loop
What other problems? plugs, injectors?
Not sure 80s emissions testers would be bothered by MIL light or emissions.
Job would be very much the same, possibly get easier, if a little more dangerous, this video shows how they did things back in the day..
Around 1:01:00, clambering over a prototype engine doing 10k. At least they've got ear defenders on.

Interesting video for anyone who's a bit

As has been pointed out the car would be useless....
I'd have no problem doing my job in 1964 though, as it would be just as it was when I first trained to do it over 30 years ago before the advent of IT.... in fact it would be a joy and pleasure to go back and do it the 'proper' way again

I could probably run my 190D for a little while. Supra would be harder.
Fairly irrelevant though as my job is experimental physicist. Within a couple of years I'd be on the way to several Nobel prizes, renowned as one of the greatest thinkers to have ever lived and rich enough to fill my garage with a selection of interesting 60's machines.

Can't imagine I would be selling much flash storage in 1964.. Total change in job would be required.
Pretty sure the Bm wouldn't enjoy the petrol, but assuming you could convert it to run properly, it would be hilariously fast in comparison.
What was the fastest car on uk roads in '64?

Everyone flips their st in the middle of winter when I come out in the morning for work and turn the key, firing the engine up like it was a warm summer day. Everyone else is struggling with their carbs.
Biggest problem would probably be lack of correct grade oil and getting suitable tyres. Although I'm sure if a company took my car in and took a look at everything automotive tech would advance very quickly!
I'm a phd graduate of chemistry, so i expect i could find a nice job as a synthetic chemist. I'd "invent" flash column chromatography and viagra.

I'd probably easily get a job at Jaguar when I turn up with the car that they're going to be putting into production in 7 years time and I've already modified it with the bigger V12 that they won't have in production until the 1990's and a manual box instead of an auto and there's no speed limit on the M1 yet.lol
