Friend of mine is looking to sell her Zafira and buying something more suitable (cheaper to insure) as she needs to add her 18 y/o son as a driver. There are 4 unalterable criteria:

New/nearly new, leather interior (don't ask why, it's a quirk of hers), high up driving position similar to her Zafira, and small engine (ideally 1200cc or less).

Suggestions awaited. Please don't suggest anything that doesn't meet these 4 requirements.

Ford B-Max can be had with the 1.0 Ecoboost and specced with leather

How's that?

Edit: Renault Modus was available up to 2012 and could be had with leather

I think that's one of the few that has a leather interior. 1.2 engines are normally found at the lower end of the range so that rarely includes leather.

Has she actually looked at any insurance quotes for her son on any cars she fancies?

Can't see a new £18k car being cheap to insure for an 18y/o regardless of engine size.

Before anyone comments, yes I know it's the price of the damage you can do to others not just the car value etc etc but it's worth shopping around for insurance quotes first and not just assuming a small engine = cheap insurance
