E34 and e32 BMWs - my favourite era of BMW following the e23 and e28. Looking around on the web there are a tiny number for sale compared to contemporary mercs, yet I remember them being much more common back in the day.

Where did they all go?? Hardly ever see them on the road any more!
I think round town and in supermarkets you'll see them. if you live on motorways you won't.

Always thought these looked nice for a family car...

Mrs had one of these until 12 months ago, still on the road though. Cracking little car and tough as old boots. Pretty looking too in that Japanese 90s way.

Tonight I followed an MX3 whilst driving my MX3, I was surprised as they only sold about 2000 to start with!

Behold my rusty heap (picture from early last year), MOT is next month, it might end up being one less MX3 on the road....

That's why I'm hanging on to my E34. I wouldn't call it a modern car though. I bought mine in 2004 and even then many of the ones for sale I went to view at were starting to look a bit ropey. The last ten years has killed even more of them off.

I saw a red XR4x4 with Sapphire Cosworth alloys the other night but it was on a Q plate, haven't seen one of those (Q's) for a while other than on kit cars.

My step-mother had 2 of these, a 1992 and a 1995 both in red. I have to say that sweet revving V6 and slick gearbox made it a nice drive....so much so I looked out for one 2yrs ago as a runabout, needless to say i could not find any that had been looked after and my memories remained just that.

Rarely even see a 406 now. Not sure why, always thought they were quite well made, and there were millions of them.
They must all be in the South West - loads of 406 down here and a fair few 405.

Perhaps this is where they go to retire ?

There's a mk6 Escort in my village, complete with gaffer taped bumpers... hehe

Was looking when I was out walking the dog at the weekend.

How many older style prefix registration cars do you see on the road?
I counted 7 in 30 minutes.

I've got a good one... Vauxhall Tigra. Used to see loads, even 6/7 years ago there were quite a few about.
I still see the new shape angular ones about but I did notice an old shape in a golden colour today

The Fiesta RS Turbo. It was rare as hens teeth when i was searching for one about 15 years ago but now there are only 211 registered in the UK and half of them will be rusty or badly modified.

I never did end up finding a good one and went for a mint XR2i in the end.
I scrapped one. I only wanted it for the engine and pretty much everything on it had been barried. Looked a bit of a tit driving it up to Notts from Portsmouth with Bad Boy bonnet, weird body kit and daft exhaust. It was the best thing for it

I used to have a H plate Cavalier 1.6. It had a really nice standard sound system and good gearing, economical with no frills. Cant find one anywhere now
Too many have gone out that way making the standard ones future classics and a real investment if you can find one. They are starting to fetch big money in good shape.

In my village there is a Montego circa 1991 and a Maestro of the same vintage, but they're the only examples I have seen for donkey's years.

If you go onto How Many Left and look at the overall graphs for cars produced around 98 - 04 you can already see there are half of the numbers. Search for Vectras and there is probably around half as the oldest ones will be getting scrapped. I'm like others, I keep thinking the 90's was only 10 years ago and forget how long ago it was. I bought my car new on a 10 plate, I can't believe it will be 4 years old in April.

Certainly in the Aberdeen area one of the more common 90's cars is the 1st gen A4, a few kicking about in daily use. Stuff like Mk3 Astra's, Mk4 Polo's, Mk4 Fiestas, Mk3 Golfs, 106's, 406's, last gen Escort's are becoming a rare sight to name a few. I was behind an R reg Citreon Xantia the other day and saw a ZX a few weeks ago. Also behind a Y reg Mk2 Laguna...it must have been one of the lucky / reliable ones to be still on the road.

I saw a Maestro at the weekend which has to count as a rare sighting. What struck me was how light and airy it looked with a lot of glass and very narrow pillars. It certainly demonstrated how cars have changed over the years.
Car design has switched from making them pleasant to be inside, to making em look good from the outside. Lots less glass now with the aiming of enhancing the look. Consider Evoques, Merc CLS. I've not sat in either but suspect (particularly rear seat pax) don't find them airy and pleasant, like we used to in some of these cool older cars.

Don't see any of these anymore...there's hardly any MK1 Puntos left either. I suppose it is 15 years since they stopped building them.
