The Best ///M/Barge/General Rant/Look at this/O/T (Vol XVI)
Discussion
Ref Mk1.
Fantastically balanced chassis
Wonderful gearbox
Precise and feelsome steering
rwd
Driving position
Look great (imho of course)
I don't disagree that the Cup is a wonderful steer, I also ran a Trophy for a while, but it/they is/are a totally different setup and pacjage to an MX5. One of each would be nice.

Are you guys still seeing some demand for the Exige V6 Loon?
Just saw this one - it really looks fantastic in yellow (and with silver wheels ).

Aye there is still interest in them although not quite like the initial launch where everybody wanted to drive/order one! Been using the white a fair bit lately and now its nicely loosened up it absolutely flies and the exhaust note has hardened with a lovely edge to it lately too.Just saw this one - it really looks fantastic in yellow (and with silver wheels ).

Oh, that will be hilarious. Like the TT 300 a lot, too.
Bet the 24v Cavalier will have you smiling as you disappear into a hedge.

So many different ways to get into trouble in that auction. Is it wrong to buy a car just so you can try something with a straight 8 in it?

That's quite a busy engine bay, all that gubbins attached to a little SU carb looks mental, not sure quite how long it would stay at temperature either but fun to find out. There is some interesting stuff at that auction

Talking of wheels, is there an 18" wheel for the E46 M3 that isn't the standard 18, or the E92 18, that doesn't look rubbish?
Agree, they are not the best. What about the 18" BBS CH?
Edit:
Presume those shown are 19's. Not sure if the 18's would translate

Any thread thoughts on the 996 turbo?
Having considered sooo many options (996 GT3, 997 C2S, many older 911s, E46 M3 +/-CSL, E28/E34/E39 M5, E63 M6, E60 B5, B7 RS4, Z06, 4200) to replace my Golf with, I'm coming back to the 996 turbo: it's got the strong engine, it's smaller than most of the others, it has two little rear seats in case, and has 4wd for the winters here. It will just do everything. I will obviously drive a couple, which I'm sure that will be great fun... but will it actually be fun in the long term, once the novelty of the pace and competence has worn off?
