Bargain motoring for the next ten years; unbreakable M30 engine, unbreakable manual gearbox, probably the finest quality built BMW car of the last 50 years, leccy sports seats to keep you happy and it will never let you down.Edited by E24man on Friday 15th August 23:34

That's nice. Lovely thing to smoke about in.Output Flange said:
Top tip No. 378: If you're going to go to the bother of driving out to take some car photos, check that you've closed the bonnet first.
And that's lovely.Per GP's observations the other day. Compare the understated and subtle appearance of that relative to today's bling wagon. I much prefer the anonymity. Head bowed, fking big stick etc.
In fairness, e-mail appears to be the preferred method of the "innit" at present. I've never previously considered the type of people I'd be likely to be dealing with when selling a car as something which could influence my decision at point of purchase. However, some cars do appear to be destined to attract that kind of punter. Or maybe it's just a representation of society as a whole in modern Britain nowadays.
John Cooper Works GP - any good? Always quite fancied one...

I imagine there must be thousands upon thousands of old boys out there whose wives won't let them order anything 'too racy, dear', where something like an M3 SE would fit the bill perfectly.
Or even just normal folk who require under the radar Millennium Falcon performance.
Surely not too much to ask?
Perhaps that's where Alpina now neatly slots?
Along a similar vein I remember my then neighbour replacing his wife's E30 318i Cabrio with the then new E36 M3 4dr in Boston Green. He just told her it was special edition.
Seeing as her friend next door had an E36 318i 4dr in Calypso with AC Schnitz' wheels and exhaust she thought no more of it

Likewise, my mate's wife wanted a cabrio a few years ago, so he got her an M Roadster (a softtop breadvan). The way she drove it would never have got above about 2-3k revs, so she was none the wiser, but he had fun weekends ragging the crap out of it.
