Would be surprised if this didn't surpass its estimate.

A chap I know has just SMS'd asking if I fancy his XK8. Only thing I know is he's had it from new and the price is £3500, which probably means 3 bags. I'm meeting him tomorrow anyway so will know more then.
Know zero about them, apart from the fact that I've always liked the shape.
Entertaining smoker GT or avoid like the plague?

They rot from the inside out so you need to know if its been garaged.Know zero about them, apart from the fact that I've always liked the shape.

They also have all the known issues with the engines, affecting certain production years, so you'll want documented evidence of the right work having been done.
Have a gander though the cheap advertised ones. Almost every one mentions engine replacement which scared the crap out of me when I looked. Nikasil like the BMW bits isn't it?Picked the CLK up, my first V8

in short how much of the original car has to remain for this thing to keep it's original ID and numberplate and not go on Q plates?

I like it!
I can understand what you mean about it not 'feeling' fast. It doesn't feel like 3 times the power of the clio. It's more than quick enough for me though and a nice place to sit. lovely noise.

Have a play around with using the gear selector to manually select the gears (and make sure the W/S switch is on S). It should feel pretty spritely if, for example, you're driving around town in 2nd gear or country roads in 3rd.
They're around 200hp/ton aren't they? That might feel quick or slow depending on what you're used to.
Gave the Graf Spree it's first real spanking last night as I had to thrash down south. Kept below 4500rpm as per instructions but bloody hell it's quick when it decides to go. God knows what it's like at 7k but will be fun to find out. The grunt from 2k is just funny and 3.5k it's into shnell mode.
Also done so English B roads in it aswell and can understand why the UK journos don't really like them. There is no subtlety there and the damping just isn't suited for those roads. It's a pure brute force and ignorance device. A Cayman would eat it alive and it wouldn't see which way 95% of Norfolk's finest wod have gone. A more flowing A road though and this thing is a monster. You would need to be in a gt3 or turbo because anything less would just get pummelled.
Wish it had the zf box though.

So, Doha. Anyone been?
I'll be heading out there next month to err, live.
Will require a vehicle of course. Needs to be able to cope with shopping mall car parks and the odd sand dune. I'm pleased to note that used prices out there are slightly lower than the equivalent in the UK, although I'm not sure what ramifications the heat has on vehicles long term.
A cosmetically shagged supercharged L322 appeals somewhat. Or possibly a Hemi Jeep Cherokee. Needs to be able to actually 'off road'. And naturally I'll be needing a bike too...
